Cambria, an in-development risk to earn MMO, is officially coming over to the Abstract Chain.
Is Cambria Migrating to Abstract?
No, this is no migration, but a new addition to the browser-based web3 title that is already delivering a multi-chain gaming experience. The blockchain title has already recorded $130m+ game volume and had more than 100k+ lifetime players from being on Ronin and Blast. Opening the game up to a new chain, one that has very recently launched this year and which the announcement describes as being “the #1 consumer chain”, could help it gain an even bigger playerbase.
Overall, this expansion makes the web3 title more accessible to all crypto gamers, so if someone prefers to use Pudgy Penguins’ chain instead of Ronin or Blast, then now there will be an option to do just that soon. Existing players don’t have to worry about any migration process, but can simply look forward to enjoying the MMO on the chains already supported once the game gets back up and running.
Whether this expansion comes with any exclusive offers or benefits to incentivize users to play on Abstract is not known at the time of writing. The announcement teased its community to stay tuned for details on Season 2, where we can likely expect to see the new chain added in. Now, an AMA has been held since, so we do have some info on the upcoming season. Based on what’s been revealed so far, Season 2 is planned to go live in late February or early March and will last for 3 weeks, featuring significant upgrades to the game’s economic model. It looks like there will there will be “gamble dungeons” according to a Discord moderator’s summary of the AMA, which will require expensive keys to access them for a chance at getting the best rewards at the highest of risks. There will be less grinding to do, and Duel Arena is likely to be more event-based for the 2nd season, awarding Abstract XP rewards for participating in weekend events or game nights held by Abstract streamers.

What Is Cambria?
Cambria is a browser-based risk to earn MMO inspired by RuneScape. Set in a top-down fantasy world with on-chain stakes, players can enjoy “degen-native game experiences” that include Gold Rush and Duel Arena.
Gold Rush represents the core MMO gameplay experience in which you get to use various skills to collect resources, with the resources actually available in limited supply. It’s up to you whether you want to focus on fishing, mining, or some other profession as you try to get all the materials you need to craft equipment and supplies needed to take on high-stakes open world dungeons. These are dangerous areas outside the game’s capital in which you can extract rare Artifacts and potentially other valuable loot. This means you not only face various fantasy monsters in PvE combat, but you also have to worry about PvP, as everyone is after the same treasures as you are, and will do their best to take you down and steal your loot if they have to.
More PvP action can be found in the Duel Arena, where players can wager ETH to fight for the spoils in intense 1v1 battles on a public arena where others can spectate. It looks like players will battle for the new chain’s XP rewards for Season 2 however. Check out the game’s official documentation to learn more.
Cambria was originally built on Blast, before becoming one of the 7 new web3 games to join the Ronin Forge program in September 2024. This meant that the first season went live on both chains in an early alpha state, giving players 4 days to play to earn during November of last year. In December 2024, the web3 gaming community was able to mint Cambria Cores on Ronin. These NFTs can be staked to earn Shards, which are used to mint Companions, intelligent in-game followers that went live on Ronin this month as tradable NFTs.
