On-chain MMORPG Calamity has an exciting summer ahead, based on major plans revealed in the new Q3 roadmap, which contains a pre-season P2A campaign alongside the TGE for the $WYRM token, among other cool updates.
The new Q3 roadmap gives the blockchain gaming community a nice overview of what to expect from the free to play Ronin-powered title throughout this summer. While no exact release dates were given, in the coming months, the developers will look to fulfill the following milestones from this new roadmap:
Wyrm Tribute is a massive upcoming game update that aims to integrate an actual real economy to the 2D title, truly enabling play to earn gameplay. Specifically, this update will allow players to convert Gold into USD at a fixed exchange rate. We don’t know what the rate will exactly be, but we do know that there will be limited daily gameplay time from which you can earn Gold, with reward distribution set to be based on player performance. You won’t have to go it alone though, as this update looks set to introduce a Guild system, fostering collaborative web3 gaming. In-game NFT support is also on the way to give holders the utility to actually utilize their assets inside the game itself, while everyone can look forward to new ways to hang out by enjoying the upcoming social & gambling-style City mini-games.
Once this huge update is live with all these significant on-chain economy features, the Play to Airdrop event should then shortly follow. The Pre-Season event will be powered by a real economy and feature a couple of different prize pools to earn from. This means that the campaign will include a token prize pool, but also a cash prize pool that is said to be boosted by players, likely meaning that player spending will further fund the reward pool. All sorts of leaderboards will go live too: the Gold Balance Leaderboard, Valor (Individual) Leaderboard, Guild Leaderboard, Fame (Referral) Leaderboard, and even leaderboards for social/gambling mini-games. It sure looks like plenty of opportunities to play and earn will be available!
It’s not clear how long the airdrop campaign will last, but once it’s over, it will be time for the public sale and TGE of the $WYRM token. Participating in the public sale will require owning unannounced NFTs, for which minting is likely yet to take place. As for the token launch, you can expect various systems and sinks to go live alongside or shortly after TGE, including the ability to claim, trade, and stake $WYRM. The mint for the unannounced NFTs is planned to take place in a similar timeframe, and the start of the Merge System is also set to happen, with plans to allow staking of the upcoming new NFTs in order to earn $WYRM tokens.
Wrapping up the third quarter of the year should be the game’s official Season 1 post-TGE. This will be the first season where $WYRM will be available as an official in-game currency to sit at the heart of a fully powered in-game economy. During the season, players will be able to participate in play to earn gameplay that is rewarded based on performance. The activities the season will probably revolve around will include hunting for Automatas while sending characters on AFK Expeditions. The token itself will also be usable not just for trading, but for social mechanics, PvP wagers, mini-games, and more too.
If you’re looking for more games to play to airdrop in, then you should definitely keep an eye on Calamity in the coming weeks. The game itself is free to play and you can get used to its mechanics already as it is live and available for download on the Epic Games Store for Windows and Mac. Standalone versions can be found attached in the game’s official Discord server.
The $WYRM token is the main core token that will power the player-driven economy of 2D MMORPG Calamity. Holders of this crypto will get to unlock exclusive in-game features and mechanics while using it to trade assets.
Next to serving as a medium of exchange for the P2P in-game Auction House, $WYRM will include staking and be used a premium currency that can be spent on exclusive gameplay perks. According to the official wiki, staking will be the primary on-chain mechanic through which players can unlock in-game rewards that may include resources, crafting materials, gameplay buffs, exclusive perks, as well as rare item parts and equipment. Outside of staking, the token will also be used for PvP wagers such as duels and various other battle formats while powering a lottery system through which players can win more tokens and exclusive goodies by using tickets and staying active.
Details on tokenomics do not seem to be available at the time of writing, but more on that and more info on use cases will probably be revealed as we get closer to TGE.
