The long-awaited free to play hero shooter BloodLoop is officially launching in early access on June 23, exclusively through the Epic Games Store. Built by Swiss studio Ragnarok Games, BloodLoop brings players into a dystopian future of tactical 5v5 combat, with full blockchain integration, competitive play, and a major airdrop event to mark its debut.

BloodLoop Debut: Game Modes and Features at Launch

BloodLoop is set in the year 2191, where three factions battle for planetary control. To avoid destroying their world, they've created a virtual arena, the BloodLoop, to resolve their conflicts. This sci-fi backdrop fuels the game's fast-paced action and layered strategy.

At launch, players can choose from three distinct game modes. Team Deathmatch pits two squads in direct combat, Energy War offers a more objective-focused tactical experience, and Free-For-All mode brings a chaotic solo competition where only the strongest survive. All game modes support up to 10 players, with 5v5 being the primary format for team-based play.

The game will also feature five unique champions at launch, each with their own playstyles and abilities. Wendigo, a master hunter, and Qatil, an agile rogue, were highlighted in the newly released launch trailer. Comic relief character Steve adds humor while remaining just as lethal on the battlefield.

Early Access via Epic Games

For now, BloodLoop is only confirmed for PC and will be available solely via the Epic Games Store. The game's early access phase doesn't yet have a defined endpoint, but the developers emphasize that it's the culmination of over four years of work. Last year, the team at Ragnarok Games raised $4 million in seed funding to bring this project to life.

Play to Airdrop Event with Juicy Prizes

BloodLoop's launch will also come with the Seasonal Leaderboard Tournament, a play to airdrop event with a growing prize pool.

The initial prize pool is set at $15,000. Players who purchase the Seasonal Leaderboard Pass, priced at $9.99 in $BLS (the game's native token), will be eligible for rewards based on their performance. 75% of all pass revenue will be added to the prize pool. If 15,000 players bought the pass, the total rewards could reach around $130,000.

Ranking on the leaderboard will be determined by a player's MMR, which rises or falls based on in-game performance. Rewards will be distributed gradually, reaching all the way down to the top 20% of participants.

Optional Blockchain Integration

According to the team, BloodLoop will be adopting a game-first approach. Its blockchain features are entirely optional and aim to enhance rather than dominate the player experience. In-game items like cosmetics and crafted gear will be tied to the blockchain for those who want true ownership, but this aspect is designed to remain unobtrusive.

The game also includes a fully operational crafting system at launch, allowing players to collect rare resources in-game and craft them into exclusive cosmetics.

Seasonal Progression and Future Plans

With that, Season 1 of BloodLoop on Epic Games will run for a month, and will be focused on "effort, improvement, and fair competition". Future seasons will expand the gameplay loop with "bounty missions, dynamic rewards, and new incentive mechanics". New content, including additional champions and skins, is already in the pipeline for upcoming months.

The launch trailer is now live, offering a cinematic look at the game's gritty world and fast-paced action. It gives a first glimpse at the champion lineup and hints at the deeper conflict behind the fights. Players can wishlist BloodLoop on the Epic Games Store now and be ready to jump in on day one.
