Benji Bananas, Animoca Brands' free-to-play mobile adventure game, has launched a new token, BENJI, to replace its reward token, PRIMATE.
The move is part of an effort to recover stolen funds due to a compromised market maker wallet in September, which resulted in the theft of around 20% of PRIMATE tokens in circulation. To secure the future of Benji's ecosystem, the team is launching a new token.
As of July 17th, 12:30 am UTC, the devs have taken a snapshot of the current PRIMATE tokens in wallets and liquidity pools. This will allow holders to convert their PRIMATE for BENJI at 1:1 once the function is released. Users should also refrain from transferring any PRIMATE in or out of their wallets unless they have staked PRIMATE or PRIMATE LP tokens on SushiSwap or ApeSwap – in which case they should unstake and withdraw to the same wallet.
Notably, holders should ensure that all their PRIMATE are moved to Ethereum (ETH) in the same wallet as the snapshot was taken. The swap will only occur on Ethereum, and users can only convert once. For instance, if you have 100 PRIMATE on ETH and 200 PRIMATE on BSC, but only 200 on ETH in your wallet at the time of swap, you can only receive 200 BENJI on Ethereum. All unclaimed tokens will be available for claim once the token launch is complete. Those who hold PRIMATE on centralized exchanges like Huobi will be airdropped with a corresponding amount of BENJI.
According to the devs, BENJI will replace PRIMATE in all future gaming events within the broader Benji ecosystem. Its tokenomics, total supply, and circulation will stay the same as the PRIMATE token. Users will have 1 month to swap all of their PRIMATE to BENJI. To learn more, check out the official post.
