The XRP Ledger is stepping into the gaming world in a more serious way as B3, a known player in onchain gaming, brings its ecosystem to Ripple's network. Best known for launching on Ethereum's Base layer, B3 is now launching what it calls the XRPL Gamechain, a gaming-focused space built to bring more users and more activity to the XRP ecosystem.
The move will begin with a soft rollout: five hyper-casual games inside Xcade, XRP's arcade platform. These will be launched in testnet mode before going live later this fall. The focus is on creating fast, fun, mobile-friendly games that can be enjoyed by anyone, even those new to crypto.
"Gaming is universal to all of us. We have games on our phones we play now, or grew up playing video games as kids," said Viktoriya Hying, co-founder of B3 creator NPC Labs. "Through our own research conducted when we were at Coinbase, the team realized the most successful way to have users participate and engage more meaningfully onchain is through creating fun, frictionless, and novel experiences. Onchain games allow for that."
What XRPL Gamechain Aims to Do
The goal of XRPL Gamechain is simple: to bring more life and use to XRP by making the ledger a place where people can play, earn, and engage. The five-game testnet version of Xcade is just the start, as B3 plans to add more titles regularly. The full arcade is expected to launch later this year, with new games planned to roll out each week.
"The intent is to make participating on-chain and on the XRP Ledger accessible, fun, and entertaining," Hying said. "Upon launch, the game catalog will grow and expand, but will still be in the same category. We want to update the catalog weekly for Xcade post-launch so there's always new games to play, fun to have, and ways to participate in the XRP ecosystem outside of just holding the token."
Players will be able to join tournaments, complete challenges, and take part in game nights. As they play, they can earn XRP rewards, giving real use to the token beyond trading or holding. This kind of play to earn model is made possible by the XRPL's new EVM-compatible sidechain, which launched back in June and allows for more flexible app development on XRP.
Why This Is a Big Deal for XRP
Crypto gaming on XRP is still rare. For the most part, web3 games have focused on networks like Ethereum, Solana, Ronin, Immutable, and Avalanche. XRP, with its fast transaction speeds and low fees, has yet to attract many game developers. But with B3 now expanding into the platform, that may start to change.
"XRP is a highly held token looking for new use cases," said Hying. "We aim to create novel ways to use that token, reward users for their participation, and grow the number of daily active users in the XRP community."
B3 is no stranger to building ecosystems. It was first launched by former Coinbase developers as part of Base, the Ethereum layer-2 backed by Coinbase. Since then, B3 has grown into a large network of appchains with over 100 games and more than 8.5 million wallets already onboarded. Its gaming platform includes BSMNT, a creative space for players and builders to connect through games and shared digital experiences.
Now, B3 is bringing that same energy to the XRP Ledger. The goal isn't just to add games to XRPL, but to make gaming a core part of what the network offers, especially for newcomers who want a fun, easy way to explore web3.
Games Now Live on Xcade
As part of the XRPL Gamechain rollout, four games with live leaderboards are now available inside Xcade, B3's onchain arcade built for the XRP Ledger. These early titles are designed to be quick, mobile-friendly, and easy to pick up, making them perfect for casual players new to crypto gaming.
Phnix Runner is a fast-paced endless runner where players control a speedy cartoon bird dashing through the desert. The goal is to dodge obstacles, collect tokens, and push for high scores. It's perfect for short bursts of gameplay or chasing leaderboard glory. By playing, users earn $RUN, which moves them up the leaderboard.
Ripple Collector is a casual tap-and-shoot game built around simple paper toss mechanics. Players aim and flick XRP coins into a moving jar, testing their timing and precision. With each perfect shot, players earn $LUCKY and climb the ranks in this browser-based game built for fast, repeatable fun.
Ripple Racer throws players into a boat-racing adventure where they dodge obstacles, outpace rival boats, and collect XRP coins across waves. It combines high-speed movement with smooth controls and competitive scoring. Players rack up $RACER tokens as they drift their way up the leaderboard.
Taxi Driver drops players into a vibrant city, putting them behind the wheel of a blocky yellow cab. The mission is simple: pick up passengers and drop them off fast. With tight turns and traffic-packed streets, every second counts. Players earn $TAXI as they complete rides and race to the top of the leaderboard.
Each of these games is live on testnet and shows how B3 is using simple, replayable gameplay to bring activity to the XRP Ledger. Every title in Xcade uses an onchain scoring system powered by B3's XRPL appchain. This means every game session contributes to the growing web3 gaming layer on XRP.
What Comes Next
Xcade's full release is expected sometime this fall, with new games being added on a weekly basis. Thanks to the XRPL EVM sidechain, builders can now bring more advanced logic and interactivity to the ledger. This makes it easier to build games, host competitions, and reward players directly onchain. With this setup, B3 and XRPL Commons want to grow daily active users on the ledger and give new life to the XRP token.
B3's plan to update Xcade weekly suggests a longer-term approach to supporting gaming activity on XRPL. By making web3 gaming feel fun and easy, they're hoping to draw in players who might not otherwise try blockchain-based games at all.
