B3, a Layer-3 network built by former Coinbase and Base team members, has announced its acquisition of Andromeda Insights. The deal marks B3's first step into gaming hardware. Together, they plan to build the world's first elite gaming PC designed for crypto gamers, complete with a self-destruct feature for sensitive data. The official launch is set for later this year, with preorders starting in July 2025.
Andromeda Insights, one of the fastest-growing gaming PC builders, has seen over 1,700% growth since 2021. First rooted in crypto, the firm shifted focus to custom PC builds after noticing a gap in the market for powerful yet affordable systems. In 2023, it reported nearly 1,000% revenue growth, and the numbers more than doubled in 2024. For 2025, it's already up 82% in revenue with a 35% increase in unit sales in just the first five months.
B3 says the acquisition is part of a bigger plan to build out its gaming ecosystem from software to hardware. "This strategic investment represents a perfect alignment of our shared values," said Daryl Xu, NPC Labs Co-founder & CEO and a key B3 contributor. "While B3 focuses on getting classic and genre-bending games into as many hands as possible, Andromeda's mission centers on delivering as many premium, affordable gaming PCs to the community as possible. Together, we're making gaming more accessible and the machines we play them on more powerful."
Andromeda Insights will stay under the leadership of its current CEO, Matt Huffman. He noted the shared mission behind the deal. "Andromeda Insights and B3 are committed to the ongoing evolution of the gaming industry and are working together to catalyze innovation at the intersection of performance and ownership," said Huffman. "Our partnership will further develop gaming systems and platforms that empower both developers and players."
The upcoming PC will feature high-end parts designed for maximum gaming performance. But what sets it apart is a suite of security tools tailored to web3 gamers. These include a built-in hardware wallet, instant internet disconnect capabilities, and a self-destruct drive that can be physically wiped in seconds. These features aim to protect crypto assets and sensitive data stored on the machine.
"We're creating hardware that acknowledges the reality of today's gaming community—people who game also participate in web3 ecosystems, and need equipment built for all their lifestyle needs," said Sean Geng, NPC Labs Co-founder & CTO and B3 core contributor. "With Andromeda Insights, we're bridging the gap between traditional gaming and the gaming and web3 future that's already here."
B3 users can sign up now to get updates and presale alerts. The PC is set to go live for preorders in July 2025.
B3 is a Layer-3 gaming ecosystem built on top of Coinbase's Base network. It offers developers the ability to build and deploy custom game chains with very low fees: just $0.001 per transaction. Its mission is to open up web3 gaming by creating shared tools, economies, and infrastructure for game studios.
The network runs on its own native token, $B3, which fuels everything from governance and rewards to grants and revenue sharing. The DAO behind B3 uses a formal governance system to manage proposals and oversee changes through a security council.
B3's game platform, BSMNT.fun, features a growing list of web3 games that are already live or in early access. These include:
With the addition of hardware like the crypto-optimized gaming PC, B3 is turning its platform into a one-stop shop for next-gen gaming. From blockchains to games and now devices, B3 is setting itself up to serve players, builders, and creators across the entire web3 stack.
