Axie Infinity developer Sky Mavis has unveiled various balancing updates that are set to be included in Origins S6.
According to the official blog post and Twitter thread, Origins S6 is coming with a host of balancing updates that include new starter axies, game pacing changes, and more. The changes will make their way to the blockchain title in the following week in order to gather community feedback, with the team urging the community to not make financial decisions based on these changes as these updates are not final and could still change once Season 6 gets going.
Axie Infinity: Origins is getting 2 new starter axies: Xia and Bing. While they haven’t been visually revealed yet, we do have an overview of both axies, where we got to see a silhouette for both as well as the cards, runes and charms they’ll likely have.
The upcoming changes seem set to make the game feel even more fast-paced, as players will now have shorter turns. Instead of having 60 seconds per turn, you’ll have 45 seconds instead, thus rewarding players who can make quick decisions on the fly.
Next to shorter turns, Energy Bursts have been made more accessible by lowering the needed amount of Energy Fragments by a minimum of 20% for all levels. It’s now also possible to get additional cards earlier, as you’ll be getting an extra card on odd burst levels instead of even, making it possible to get up to 6 cards after the first Energy Burst.
Another change that speeds up the pace of the game is that the team is introducing a bonus Energy Fragment when you end a turn with leftover energy, adding an “extra layer of decision-making to card usage.” Animations have also been updated to further complement this pacing direction.
