Axie Infinity records its lowest daily active users in eight months

Axie Infinity is one of the most prominent names in the blockchain gaming ecosystem, generating unparalleled attention and unalloyed loyalty from members of its community.

The game had a peak of 2.7M daily active users last year and was projected to reach bigger numbers in 2022. However, this has not been the case.

On the 9th of May, 2022, the game was recorded to have had only 926k active daily users. This is the first time such a number has been recorded in 8 months. 

There have been numerous comments on the factors influencing the dwindling numbers with several blockchain gaming commentators highlighting that the degrading value of $AXS and especially $SLP have contributed in no little way to the recent decline. Others argue that the change in gameplay mechanics relating to how $SLP is earned is the cause for the reduction in numbers.

The game mechanics modifications range from halving the $SLP rewards to removing quest awards and removing $SLP rewards in Adventure mode. Furthermore, the $SLP supply is increasing which is making the token less profitable day by day and the value of in-game assets is reported to be diminishing. 

Nonetheless, the Axie Infinity team is confident of a comeback. The Founder, Jeffrey Zirlin, has released a statement reassuring the fans that they are here for the long haul and are working hard to improve the game features and offer a  better user experience.
