Sky Mavis has officially announced the return of Axie Infinity: Homeland, a land-based game mode that is now live in pre-beta phase with a new reward structure after initially being available in alpha.
After initially undergoing alpha testing since December 2022, the mode is now back with a new reward structure that aims to provide the land gameplay with a self-sustaining in-game economy.
The pre-beta phase is set to run for an indefinite period and will allow players who own Land NFTs a chance to earn mAXS by doing various tasks. These include activities such as crafting, gathering, and winning battles. This means that when you send Axies to collect a resource such as wood, you now actually have a chance of receiving AXS rewards from that activity. The mAXS earned in this new reward structure will be sent to your Lockbox, with Sky Mavis set to withdraw and verify the contents of each Lockbox every Monday. Once the AXS has been verified, it will be minted and thus become claimable on App.Axie.
By introducing this reward structure, the developers will be able to “better understand how we can integrate rewards into gameplay and distribute them to more players without relying on Leaderboard performance.” This makes rewards more accessible to everyone instead of just the highest-ranked players.
Alongside this new model, the team has also introduced a new mechanic called Moonfall. Moonfalls are shards of the moon that fell down to Lunacia after Agonia smashed it. Players have a rare chance of getting 1 Moonfall per day by completing a special task, as stated in the below image. Each Moonfall is worth around 5000 mAXS.
