Axie Infinity Genesis Estate Sells for Record $1.5 Million

Axie Infinity is responsible for the most valuable single transaction for NFTs, as nine Genesis land plots sold for 888.25 ETH or 1.5 million dollars. These land plots are at the center of the world of Lunacia, which will become a central gameplay element in Axie Infinity later this year.

The seller of these lands is Danny, an NFT collector who's also active in Hashmasks and Cryptopunks. The buyer remains anonymous, using the pseudonym Flying Falcon, but they explained their reasons for this record purchase:

We're witnessing a historic moment; the rise of digital nations with their own system of clearly delineated, irrevocable property rights. Axie land has entertainment value, social value, and economic value in the form of future resource flows.

Axie Infinity has seen big growth last year. The number of Axie holders increased 742 percent, while the monthly of active users went up more than 3000 percent. In addition the value of their newly launched AXS token has only been going up. It's not without reason they got voted Blockchain Game of the Year by the community.

The $1.5 million transaction took place on Ronin, the sidechain developed by Sky Mavis especially for their Axie Infinity game. Instead of buyer one hundred dollars in transaction fees on Ethereum, the buyer and the seller paid nothing. Transactions on Ronin, where currently only land and land item are hosted, are complete free.

What is Axie Infinity?

Axie Infinity is a tactical battle game in which two players fight each other using a team of Axies. These little balls of joy are from Lunacia, and they come in all kinds of shapes and sizes.
