Sky Mavis has announced to the community of Axie Infinity that the Axie Origin Coin (AOC) tokens are officially set to be migrated to the Ronin network.
According to the announcement, a snapshot of the AOC contract is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 22nd, at 7 AM UTC. With this snapshot, the team will be able to successfully migrate tokens from Ethereum over to Ronin, so if you own AOC tokens before that date on Ethereum, then your tokens will be sent to the equivalent address on Ronin. This means that if your address on Ethereum is, for example, 0x5htm8, then the address on Ronin, ronin:5htm8, will be the one to receive the same number of tokens as the one on Ethereum.
The official post states that this migration is mandatory, meaning that once your tokens get migrated to Ronin, the AOC contract on Ethereum will be paused, which means that those tokens will no longer be possible to move after the snapshot.
Once this migration is completed, all AOC token holders will have the opportunity to roll their tokens, leading to the creation of new Origin axies, with 5 AOC needed for the birth of 1 Origin axie. The post states that there is a chance that one of these new axies gets born with a Mystic part, with info on probabilities set to be revealed in the near future. According to the studio, a total of 1375 AOC tokens have been left unrolled on Ethereum wallets, with the post stating that there are only 36 holders, one of them being the company itself. Sky Mavis states that the tokens they hold are reserved for “future marketing and rewards.
