The Avalanche network has launched its first official gaming battle pass. Known as the Avalanche Battle Pass, it is now live and free to mint on the Magic Eden marketplace. Those who mint this NFT can earn rewards like AVAX tokens and exclusive NFTs by simply playing games within the Avalanche ecosystem.
This release is the result of a partnership between Ava Labs, Magic Eden, and Playfull, which seeks to unify the growing Avalanche gaming world.
The Avalanche Battle Pass is designed to be simple. Anyone can mint it for free from Magic Eden starting June 16, with the offer available for 30 days. After minting, players must register the NFT on avaxpass.playfull.com. Once done, the battle pass tracks a player's gaming activity across supported Avalanche titles.
By playing these games, you can progress through a reward path. As you fill up your pass with activity, you'll unlock in-game NFTs and even earn AVAX tokens.
A wide variety of games are included in the first season of the battle pass. Some of the biggest titles include Off the Grid, Spellborne, and Pixelmon: Warden's Ascent. Other games like Forgotten Playland, DeFi Kingdoms, and The Arena are also part of the ecosystem, giving players more options to earn.
"One ecosystem, one Battle Pass, one user experience," said Ava Labs Gaming Lead, Parker Heath. "We've now got everything from AAA shooters (Off the Grid) to iconic IPs (MapleStory Universe) running on their own Avalanche Layer-1s. That's awesome for scale, but it fragments discovery and can leave each community feeling siloed."
Heath described the Battle Pass as a central point for players across different titles. "The Battle Pass is our on-chain watering hole—a single progression layer where players earn rewards no matter which game they drop into," he explained.
This means players don't have to commit to one game. As long as they're playing any of the supported titles, they'll make progress and earn perks. The format allows users to explore lesser-known games while still being rewarded.
To get the Avalanche Battle Pass, you can start by minting the NFT from Magic Eden. The pass will be available for free for one month. Once minted, players create an account at avaxpass.playfull.com, connect their crypto wallet, and start playing eligible games.
Why should players join? According to the team, the battle pass offers access to new games on Avalanche, exclusive NFT and token rewards, special perks across games, and entry into premium pass giveaways.
The launch comes at a time when crypto gaming has faced setbacks, with several studios closing and token values dropping. But Avalanche's gaming team remains optimistic.
According to Heath, "These titles highlight the increasing appetite for blockchain-enhanced gaming experiences and demonstrate Avalanche's scalability and readiness to support complex, high-volume games." He pointed to the success of Off the Grid, which has surpassed 300,000 daily users after moving to the GUNZ mainnet, and MapleStory N, which attracted more than 770,000 users since launching.
By offering a unified and reward-driven system, the Avalanche Battle Pass hopes to grow the community and keep gamers engaged.
The battle pass is not just about rewards. It also acts as a discovery tool for the broader Avalanche ecosystem. By rewarding players for exploring multiple titles, Ava Labs hopes to create stronger links between game communities.
The move also mirrors efforts by other blockchain networks to offer similar unified passes. Solana, for instance, launched its own Solana Game Pass earlier this year.
The Avalanche Battle Pass brings together a wide range of games and offers practical rewards like AVAX tokens and NFTs. It's built with simplicity in mind, giving players a reason to explore more of what the Avalanche gaming scene has to offer.
