Aurory, a JRPG built on Solana, has introduced "Seekers of Tokane." This addition comes as the game prepares to launch a desktop version on Epic Games.
Known for its Pokémon-style fantasy combat, Aurory is now integrating the roguelike RPG elements with Seekers of Tokane. This marks a major move into mainstream gaming with its debut on the Epic Games Store.
The early access for Seekers of Tokane kicks off on Thursday and is now exclusive to Aurorian NFT holders. The broader community can look forward to receiving access codes in the coming weeks.
This expansion introduces a PvE model to Aurory, a first for the game. Players can now explore vast, ever-changing biomes and engage in battles with their magical creatures, Nefties, against various enemies.
A key feature is the "procedural land generation system." Each journey through a portal from Blanche town leads to a uniquely generated environment, ensuring no two experiences are the same. This system mirrors the challenging and rewarding mechanics of roguelike RPGs like Diablo 3, where players must navigate new lands, battle foes, and locate exit portals to survive. Failure to do so before dying results in the loss of all gathered loot.
Jonathan Campeau, Aurory's Executive Producer, highlights the system's ability to generate infinite game worlds from random land seeds. He likens it to assembling unique environments from "Lego pieces."
The update also includes avatar customization with 67 free options for non-NFT holders, enhanced controls in PvP Blitz Battles, and a new Neftie upgrading system, "The Amplifier." PvP Blitz now offers more strategic depth, with players selecting moves for their Nefties while exploiting in-game advantages.
The move to Ethereum's L2 network Arbitrum and the shift to a desktop version on the Epic Store reflect the team's commitment to enhancing the player experience. Campeau also expressed excitement about the major improvements in gameplay between the browser and desktop versions.
All in all, this development marks a significant step for Aurory, as it evolves to meet the growing demands of the gaming community and blockchain tech.
