The team behind Aurory has returned with a major update. On October 31, they officially rebranded their main game, Seekers of Tokane, to a new name: Amiko Legends. In a post shared on X, they described this move as "the next chapter" and hinted that it's part of something bigger in the works.

Right now, based on the latest whitepaper, the core game experience hasn't changed much. The biggest update so far is that the creatures once called Nefties are now known as Amikos. Most systems, features, and locations look and function the same for now.

What Is Amiko Legends?

Amiko Legends is the new title for what was previously Seekers of Tokane. It's a free to play, roguelite RPG built around exploration, turn-based combat, and collectible creatures. You begin in the same starting village, Blanche, before heading out into the lands of Tokane to battle enemies and gather loot.

The world is made up of procedurally generated maps. Each run gives you new environments, enemies, and challenges. Combat is still turn-based, and the game features both single-player PvE and head-to-head PvP in a mode called Blitz Battles.

Amikos, like Nefties before them, are magical creatures that you collect, train, and use in fights. You build squads of Amikos with different traits and abilities, and then try to clear areas, defeat wild Amikos, and win battles for rewards.

What Changed With the Rebrand?

The main change so far is the name. Seekers of Tokane is now Amiko Legends, and Nefties are now Amikos. That's it, at least for the current version. Based on the updated whitepaper, the structure, systems, and gameplay loop remain almost entirely the same.

Your journey still begins in Blanche, you explore the same types of lands, and you fight in Blitz Battles. Amikos behave like Nefties did, including how you train them and use them in both PvE and PvP. The gameplay, at least from what's publicly shared, doesn't seem to have gone through big changes just yet.

But the rebrand may be setting the stage for future updates. The team hasn't confirmed any major changes yet, but they've hinted that this new name will carry the game into a bigger phase. Until more is revealed, it's safe to say the current experience will feel familiar to returning players.

A Quick Look Back at Aurory's Origins

Aurory started as a web3 game studio focused on merging traditional gaming with blockchain features. The studio was co-founded by Yann Penno and Paul Vadillo, who wanted to create a JRPG where players could own their in-game assets and earn rewards for their time and effort. They used the AURY token as a way to make this happen.

The first playable version of Aurory came in the form of Aurory Tactics, a PvP battle mode that let users fight with their Nefties in turn-based matches. Over time, the studio moved away from this game and began building a more open, adventure-style experience. That shift gave birth to Seekers of Tokane, which now continues under the Amiko Legends name.

Rewards, Tokens, and Game Currency

The game still runs on the AURY ecosystem. Winning Blitz Battles or completing land adventures gives you different rewards tied to the game's token economy.

Weekly AURY rewards are split into 2 pools: OKA and TOKE. Winning ranked PvP matches with a full Prime Amiko squad earns you OKA, as long as your starting Amiko has enough OKAnergy. Once it runs out, you'll earn TOKE instead. If your team includes Standard Amikos, or a mix of Prime and Standard, you also earn TOKE. These sub-tokens are then used for $AURY payouts.

Crystals are another form of in-game currency. These are off-chain and have no external value, but you can use them to hatch eggs, power up Amikos, buy cosmetic items, or unlock event content. You'll earn Crystals through PvE and PvP, even if you lose a match.

When exploring the land, you can also find eggs. These can be Prime or Standard, and may hatch into new Amikos for your squad. But if your team gets fully knocked out during a run, you'll lose your loot and get sent back to Blanche empty-handed.

Events and Social Features Still Active

The village of Blanche still serves as the main hub where you can meet other players, take part in events, and customize your avatar. The game continues to function as a live service title, with content rolled out in stages. While no new features have been officially announced since the rebrand, the system for phased updates remains in place.

Your character can still be customized using outfits and accessories. Most of these items can be unlocked through gameplay or purchased with Crystals.

Early Playtest Results Show Strong Interest

Ahead of the rebrand, Aurory held a private playtest of the new Amiko build in London. A total of 32 players took part in guided sessions and focus groups, while a wider study gathered responses from over 2,500 players across the US, UK, Japan, and South Korea.

According to what the team shared on Discord, early feedback was mostly positive. Testers praised the art style, music, and sound effects. The turn-based combat system stood out, with many noting its pacing and strategy as highlights. Amikos were also well-received, especially their visual designs and collectible feel.

Exploration also got good feedback, though some participants felt it needed more variety to keep things interesting over longer sessions. The team acknowledged this and said it's something they're already working on.

The test also showed that mainstream players are still unsure about blockchain elements in games. The Aurory team said they're focused on making these systems easier to understand and less disruptive to the core experience.

Getting Started With Amiko Legends

If you're new and want to try Amiko Legends, the first step is to make an Aurory account. You can do this using a social login or by connecting a Solana wallet like Phantom or an EVM wallet like Metamask. Once you sign up, you'll get a free Starter Egg that hatches into your first off-chain Amiko.

After that, head to the Epic Games Store or Aurory's game portal to download the game. When you log in, you'll start out in the village of Blanche. From there, you can begin your adventure, build your squad, and dive into both PvE and PvP modes.

More Info Coming at the Roundtable

The Aurory team is expected to share more details during their next Roundtable AMA, scheduled for Friday, November 7. This session will take place on Discord and will likely cover topics like early playtest feedback, upcoming features, and what players can expect from Amiko Legends going forward.

Until then, things look mostly the same, based on what's in the whitepaper. Seekers of Tokane has become Amiko Legends, Nefties are now Amikos, and the rest of the game is still built on the same foundation. Whether or not that changes in the near future will likely become clearer after the Roundtable.
