After confirming $CHECK TGE for Q4 2025, The Animoca Brands-backed team behind Anichess has officially announced just about everything you need to know about the upcoming token, including the launch date, tokenomics, and more.

What Is the $CHECK Token?

$CHECK is described as being the core “Strategy Token” of the Checkmate Ecosystem, a new decentralized network designed to reward intelligence, skill, and creativity across gaming, learning, and generative AI experiences. The token will officially launch on November 12 at 7 PM ET, marking the beginning of its role as the foundation for the Checkmate economy.

This token looks set to be used to power the creation, competition, and identity layers of the ecosystem, turning every meaningful decision or contribution into measurable on-chain value.

At its core, $CHECK represents an effort to connect different types of participation under one shared digital economy. Players, creators, and learners can all use the same currency to compete, create, and collaborate across applications linked to the network.

The Checkmate Ecosystem’s first live title is Anichess, a web3 chess-based strategy game founded by Animoca Brands in collaboration with Chess.com, the world’s largest chess platform. With $CHECK integration, Anichess will serve as the first major gateway into the broader Checkmate network. Future integrations are already planned to extend the ecosystem into competitive programs, merchandise, and casual titles like King’s Gambit, a new roguelike chess survival game launching later this year.

What Is the Utility of the $CHECK Token?

The $CHECK token functions as both a currency and a reward system across multiple layers of the Checkmate Ecosystem. It serves 5 main utilities that connect gameplay, creation, and governance, including compete and earn gameplay, progression-based staking, AI-powered UGC, access to token-gated experiences, and voting on various proposals.

Players can use $CHECK to enter ranked events, tournaments, and skill-based arenas. Rewards are distributed based on verified performance, not participation volume, ensuring that the system values strategy and consistency. Event-based airdrops and leaderboard prizes will expand as more applications join the network.

By staking $CHECK, players can earn Mate Points (M8), non-transferable in-game points that unlock progression-based bonuses, exclusive cosmetics, and higher reward tiers in Anichess. M8 reflects player dedication and forms part of the in-game prestige system.

Creators and educators can use the token to publish generative AI projects, products, or educational modules. Community-approved creations receive $CHECK rewards through voting systems, ensuring a merit-based approach to recognition. The token can also act as an access key to collectibles, cosmetics, and token-gated experiences across the ecosystem. Players can use it to obtain NFT-based assets tied to gameplay milestones or community events, reinforcing the link between contribution and ownership.

Holders should also be able to participate in network governance through Checkmate Improvement Proposals (CIPs). These proposals will allow the community to guide partnerships, funding allocations, and ecosystem development.

Governance within the Checkmate network will begin under a structured phase led by the core team. Over time, it will transition toward community-led management through a DAO Council, which will support decentralized decision-making and funding proposals submitted through the CIP process.

The infrastructure supporting $CHECK includes 3 main layers:

  • Digital Passport: Tracks achievements, creations, and player history on-chain.
  • Asset Framework: Defines both fungible ($CHECK) and non-fungible assets used across applications.
  • Data Registry: Maintains transparent records of matches, rankings, and governance actions.

$CHECK Tokenomics

The $CHECK token has a fixed supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens, with over 59% of the total supply said to be allocated to growth of the community and ecosystem.

Specifically, the 1 billion token supply is allocated across the following 8 categories:

  • Player Rewards (39.38%): 5% unlocked at TGE, with the remainder vesting over 36 months.
  • Ecosystem & Treasury (20.0%): 0% unlocked at TGE, vesting over 40 months.

About Anichess & Checkmate Ecosystem

The Checkmate Ecosystem aims to connect competitive play, generative AI creation, and education into a single on-chain framework powered by $CHECK. Each of these sectors represents a different way to earn, contribute, and interact within the network.

Anichess is the first live project within the ecosystem and its launch partner. Developed by Animoca Brands and Chess.com, this blockchain game merges classical chess strategy with spell-based mechanics and NFT ownership. Players can use spells and power-ups to alter board dynamics, adding a layer of unpredictability to traditional chess gameplay.

Since its early access phase, Anichess is said to have recorded over 340k players, 100k monthly active users, and more than 6 million minutes of gameplay. The platform has already attracted professional chess players including Magnus Carlsen and Anish Giri, highlighting its potential as a competitive web3 esport.

$CHECK, which launches November 12 at 7 PM ET, will be gradually integrated into the flagship title through several stages, with utility set to further expand as more projects join the growing ecosystem.

Following Anichess, the next title in the network will be King’s Gambit, a chess-inspired roguelike survival game that blends casual mechanics with strategy-based progression. It will be available on both web and mobile platforms later this year and will serve as a web2 onboarding gateway for new users.
