Hymersion Studio, the developers of Afterland have announced that their play-to-earn title is set to launch in alpha this Monday on September 12.
Afterland is a stylish free-to-play multiplayer FPS where players will be able to work together to take down enemy camps as they search for a certain amount of crystals in order to create a portal to take them to the next semi-procedurally generated world in the PVE rogue-like Adventure mode. There will be 4 different dynamic worlds players will have to go through without dying, each of which will have a boss fight, with the first world, The Canyon, included in the alpha. In the future there will also be 1v1 and 2v2 PVP gameplay, including a free-to-play league featuring NFTs as rewards. There are plans for integrating scholarships and cross-chain support, meaning the game will be available on the WAX blockchain and the Immutable X Ethereum-based Layer 2 network.
The alpha version will be downloadable from the Elixir Launcher, a Web3-gaming focused PC platform focused on bringing NFT gaming to mainstream gamers with cross-chain and cross-platform support, available on Windows, Mac OS and Linux PCs.
It seems this alpha test is only available for those with an Alpha Pass, which includes content creators and ambassadors of the game. Those who’d like to have a chance at gaining access to this closed alpha can try their luck at winning an Alpha Pass in the giveaway found in this tweet, where 5 Alpha Passes are being given away, with 3 winners set to also get different types of whitelists to NFTs.
According to the roadmap, a closed beta is scheduled for Q4 this year followed by an open beta featuring PVE gameplay in the first quarter of next year. The game will officially launch on Windows and Mac in Q2 2023, with an Android and iOS version to follow sometime after.
