Web3 gaming ecosystem Aavegotchi has kicked off Rarity Farming Season X, during which the top participants across various categories have a chance of earning a share of a massive 1.5 million $GHST prize pool (almost $1.4 million worth of tokens at the time of writing).
Season 10 of Rarity Farming is an 8-week play to earn period during which you can earn $GHST rewards by using Aavegotchi NFTs and taking part in various events.
As usual, you can compete for rewards by climbing to the top of 3 different leaderboards: Rarity, Kinship, and XP. No changes have been made to this system in comparison to the previous season. You need to be in the top 7500 on any of these leaderboards to qualify for rewards. There is also a 4th category through which you can play and earn: Gotchi Battler. This means that the 1.5 million $GHST prize pool has been allocated in the following way:
Half of the prize pool will be distributed in the Rarity category, where the goal is own Aavegotchis with the highest rarity scores. The rarity score of an NFT is determined based on the randomly-generated traits it gets when it’s summoned. The rarer the NFTs you have, the higher your rarity score. You can also boost the rarity score of your NFT by equipping the Gotchi with Wearables and Wearable sets. These can be purchased or even rented thanks to the launch of the new Wearable Rentals Market by Orium Guild.
To climb the Kinship leaderboard, you simply have to pet your Aavegotchi twice a day, or once every 12 hours. You can also feed it kinship potions instead. Petting it increases their kinship score by one, and if you take longer than 24 hours to pet your Gotchi, the kinship score will decrease by one.
As for the XP category, you can climb it by earning XP from doing various activities, including voting in the AavegotchiDAO, drinking XP potions, participating in mini-game leaderboard competitions, and taking part in community events.
Once these main leaderboards officially conclude after 4 rounds, the final way to earn $GHST for this season will open: a huge on-chain single-elimination tournament with a 300k $GHST reward pool in NFT auto battler, Gotchi Battler. In the meantime, you can start preparing a team of powerful Gotchis to fight squads from opposing players in strategic battles, and even join in on the game’s second tournament for Rarity Farming Season 9 right now by registering before January 13th, 4 PM UTC.
To participate in this season of Aavegotchi, you need to own an Aavegotchi NFT, or use Gotchi Lending to borrow one from another player who is willing to split the $GHST rewards. You can purchase NFTs from other players in the official marketplace, where the cheapest one currently listed is 72 $GHST. To borrow Gotchis, you can use the Gotchi Lending section of the official dApp, where you can borrow one for as low as 0.20 $GHST for a duration of 12 hours.
Alternatively, you can also summon an NFT yourself using Portals. Every Portal has 10 different NFTs that each come with randomly-generated traits, but you can only summon 1 out of the group. Claiming the NFT from the Portal requires using a specific number of Spirit Force, which are Aave-backed ERC20 tokens known as ‘aTokens’. These might include aUSDT, aUSDC, aDAI, aWETH, and more.
Season 10 started on January 6th at 10 AM EST / 2 PM UTC and will run for 8 weeks, a period of which is divided into 4 rounds or snapshots. The first snapshot will take place on January 20th at 10 AM EST / 2 PM UTC, so you have time until then to compete for rewards allocated to this first round. Next to the token prize pool, everyone who participates during this season also has a chance of earning non-transferrable badges and trophies that are attached to your NFT “to forever prove its unique history of success.” Check out the detailed rewards breakdown for the $GHST pool in this Google spreadsheet, which is also linked in the official blog post.
