Aavegotchi has officially revealed that they are launching an interactive game in The Sandbox on October 25th.
The well-known Polygon-based gaming protocol and NFT collection is officially making its way to one of the most popular gaming metaverses in the form of a shared metaverse experience. This will be an interactive Aavegotchi game which was initially a side project by the Gotchi French Army Studio that they started about a year ago, but according to the official Twitter thread, ended up turning into a “massive, multi-IP undertaking” that is funded by the AavegotchiDAO and The Sandbox Game Maker Fund.
Sebastien Borget, the co-founder of The Sandbox, kept an eye on the project during its first 6 months, meeting up with the Gotchi French Army team during the NFT Paris conference. The end result is that The Sandbox team has turned the existing NFT collection into native Sandbox assets, making it possible to create an Aavegotchi game in the voxel-based metaverse. The developers spent months making it possible for more than 20k+ Aavegotchis to be playable in the metaverse.
To commemorate these successes, two airdrops will take place.
If you owned an Aavegotchi before July 1st, which is when a snapshot took place, then you’ll be able to unlock The Sandbox version of it by connecting your wallet from October 8th. It’s also mentioned that in the event the NFT is sold or transferred, the metaverse avatar moves along with it.
The other airdrop concerns the upcoming game itself. It’s a rewards campaign from which more than 50k $SAND and 5000 $GHST tokens will be distributed to players of the Aavegotchi x Sandbox Experience. You don’t need to own an NFT in order to play, but owning one does give you a chance of winning $SAND tokens.
