A Guide on How to Play to Airdrop with Boomland

Play to airdrops are the hot item in web3 gaming this year. And a new campaign blazes onto the scene as Boomland launches their play to airdrop event on the Immutable zkEVM network!

Getting started is free and easy. First, head over to the Boomland Play to Airdrop Dashbboard. Here you can login with your Immutable Passport, connect your social media channels for badges, see your progress and inventory, and start playing the game!

Everyone will start from scratch on the Immutable zkEVM version of the game. Every account will receive a common, free, in-game Hunter to play with. Players who are active with their free Hunter for two weeks (14 days) consecutively will see their Hunter auto-minted as an NFT into their wallet!

What is Immutable Passport?

Don't have an Immutable Passport yet? That's ok, signing up for one is easy. And with a rapidly growing selection of games making the move to the Immutable zkEVM chain. you'll probably want one in the near future if not now!

You can sign up for an Immutable Passport with an email address or using your Google or Apple logins.

The Immutable Passport functions as a web3 wallet on the Immutable zkEVM chain, and also as a social login for integrated apps. Guild of Guardians and Boomland are two of the first apps to fully utilize the Immutable Passport, but many more will follow!

How to Play to Airdrop with Boomland

This play to airdrop campaign from Boomland will see three different leaderboards – Individual Leaderboard, Referral Leaderboard, and Faction Leaderboard.

The play part of this event features Hunters On-Chain, the top-down fantasy battle game from Boomland. The game is available for both Android and iOS devices (note: playing an iOS device requires installation of the Apple Testflight App), and it can also be played through a webpage.

Just login with your Passport, complete a quick tutorial, and you're ready to starting earning points!

Players can earn XP by completing Badges, representing in-game accomplishments and a few for social media activity. And also by completing daily quests. But the main way to earn XP is by playing and winning matches in Hunters On-Chain.

Each match played and completed has a chance to earn some XP, depending on how well you do.

But if you really want to score some serious XP points, you will need one or more Premium Hunters. Premium Hunters are NFTs which offer increased reward multipliers (+40% per Hunter held in your wallet!), and who also have more Energy, allowing their owner to participate in additional matches (thus potentially earning more XP).

How to get a Premium Hunter?

Players who own Hunter NFTs on Polygon and filled out the migration form a couple of months ago, should have already received an airdrop of random Hunter NFTs into their Immutable Passport wallet. These NFTs are fully tradeable on Sphere (current floor price of about 19 IMX tokens) and can also be used in-game.

Additionally, Boomland plans to put 100 Premium Hunters up for sale on a daily basis. These will be priced based on weighted averages of the current floor prices in the market.

But players can also discover Premium Hunters in-game by opening chests, which also contain materials needed to level up your Hunters. Higher level Hunters get stat bonuses, and they have an increased amount of Energy.

Referral Leaderboard

Users can compete for a spot on the referral leaderboard. The top 100 players with the most qualified referrals at the end of the season share a prize pool. To be qualified, a referral must play for at least four days.

Additionally, bringing in referrals gives the referring player some minor XP bonuses towards the individual leaderboard.

Faction Gameplay and Rewards

Players can join a faction by using a faction referral link, which the partner projects should already be posting on their social media accounts soon. Players who are part of a faction have their XP gains added to the faction total.

And the end of the event, the top three factions split a prize of 10M BOOM tokens – 5M to first place, 3M to second place, and 2M to third place. Members of the winning factions receive a cut of this prize based on their individual contribution to the event.

And to try and keep things fair, Boomland itself will have a faction, though it will not be eligible for the faction rewards. Instead, the Boomland faction will receive a separate award of BOOM tokens based on where they would have placed in the event. 

Additionally, players who join a faction will receive a 10% bonus to their experience. So there is really no reason not to pick a faction to join!

BOOM Reward Distribution

We don't know the exact details about how the leaderboard rewards will be distributed because Boomland plans to run a complex calculation at the end of the season to determine reward distribution. This is done with a method they call Reward Zones, which they describe in the following manner:

We use the normal distribution curve to ensure fair and equitable distribution of rewards:

Calculation of Thresholds: The desired XP limit is the mean minus three standard deviations (μ - 3σ). Players below this threshold will not qualify for rewards. This is to stop social farming (since most of the badges and missions are in-game) and remove underperforming outliers.
Defining Reward Zones: Players are segmented into zones based on their distance from the mean (e.g., μ ± σ, μ ± 2σ, etc.).
Token Allocation: Each reward zone has a specific token allocation, ensuring that top percentiles and outliers do not overshadow lower zones. This is to make sure there is no Pay To Win unfairness.

Players can potentially earn BOOM tokens from all three leaderboards. You can check your current positions on the leaderboards through the official dashboard.

What is BOOM?

BOOM is a premium, on-chain currency that will be the backbone of the Boomland economy. Players need BOOM to level-up hunters, to mint new Hunters with Equipment NFTs, to Forge Hunters together into higher rarity Hunters, for Hunter rentals, in-app purchases, staking, and more!

BOOM will be the currency used across the entire Boomland ecosystem, including Hunters On-chain and any future games or apps they release.

How to Play Hunters On-Chain

Hunters On-Chain is a free to play, fantasy, top-down, casual, PVE action game with a couple of different game modes.

For PvE, each match features four players fighting monsters and leveling up. In Hunt mode, matches last for two minutes, with the top spot going to whoever has earned the most experience in that time, or whoever is the last survivor — whichever comes first. Each player starts the match at level 1 with full hit points. As they kill monsters and grab the stars that drop, players gain experience. Gain enough experience, and you level up, earning the right to choose between two, semi-random promotions. These promotions include standard power-ups such as increased damage, greater attack range, and more hit points, as well as special abilities like Damage Reflect and Demon Pact (sacrifice HP for more damage).

As the match goes on, the monsters spawned get tougher. So just trying to hide and survive the match isn’t really a viable tactic. Players need to actively get out on the battlefield and increase their levels. Monsters generally spawn in the corners of the map, though they will chase players all around. At the center lies a healing square that can be visited at any time.

Other modes include Boss Hunt, which requires players to try and defeat a Boss dragon after leveling up, Bounty Hunter, which is a 10 character, FFA fight with no level-ups during the match, and Protect the King, a mode where players must keep a specific character from dying.

Players earn BGEM tokens from playing matches. They can then use BGEM to purchase chests containing random artifacts and hunter shards. Players also need BOOM tokens to level up their Hunters.

Hunters come in forty different types, each with their own unique combination of attacks and special abilities. Hunters have randomly generated appearances and some randomness in the range of their starting stats as well, making each one truly unique.
