Hackathon for Metaverse Development
This year’s Hackathon event is designed to empower developers to create unique, immersive, and community-driven experiences that drive increased engagement in the metaverse. Participants are invited to participate in one of three tracks: Metaverse Innovation Track, FIFA Women World Cup 2023 (FWWC23) Track, and Design Track.
According to Idan Zuckerman, Co-Founder and the Co-CEO of Upland,
"the event is part of the company’s mission to build the first Metaverse Super App. Each track has a contextual connection to the Upland ecosystem, community, and economy. Developers, designers, artists, gamers, and blockchain enthusiasts will be provided with the tools, support, and inspiration to bring their Web3 game ideas to life."
The Hackathon event will have four judges, including representatives from Upland, FIFA, and the EOS Network Foundation. Each project submission will be rated for the quality of each pitch and its prototype, its use of Upland’s 3rd-party development tools, its team’s composition and diversity, business feasibility, and fulfillment of the Hackathon’s mission statement.
The Various Initiatives from Upland
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Track is an exciting initiative from Upland, FIFA’s official metaverse partner. Developers can leverage Upland’s third-party SDK along with FIFA NFTs to create games and experiences that showcase their creativity. The winning project will be displayed at the FIFA World Cup Village in Upland.
The Hackathon began with a kick-off party with OnePiece Labs and was officially launched at GDC on March 22. Teams can register for the Hackathon until May 12, and submissions are due by May 26. Finalists will be selected on May 28, and the final presentation and awards ceremony will take place during Upland’s annual Genesis Week Conference at the Sahara Casino and Resort in Las Vegas on June 9.
