Voxel-based metaverse The Sandbox is back with another creative holiday event, with this time being the VoxEdit Christmas contest that features a prize pool of 20k $SAND tokens up for grabs for the top submissions.
Contest Details
For this seasonal contest, the goal is to create a fully animated Christmas asset using the free VoxEdit software. What kind of asset you’d like to make is up to you to figure out; it could be a “happy snowman, a mischievous elf or any other enchanting element,” so long as it will “capture the essence of Christmas.”
Submissions opened on Wednesday, November 29th, and will close on Wednesday, December 20th, at 11:59 PM UTC, with the results set to be announced on January 13th, 2024. Voting will be done by The Sandbox team themselves, and submitting more than one entry is allowed.
Your submission will be graded on a scale from 1 to 5 on the following 6 criteria: creativity, usability, optimization, aesthetics, quality of animation, and level of complexity.
Rewards
There are two categories for this contest: the Regular Category and the Beginner Category. A total of 20k $SAND tokens has been allocated, with 15k going to the top 10 in the first category, while the remaining 5k tokens are reserved for the top 10 entries in the Beginner Category.
The winning submission in the Regular Category will receive 6000 $SAND tokens, while 2nd place is set to be awarded with 3500 $SAND, 3rd place 2000 $SAND, and places from 4th to 10th get 500 $SAND tokens each.
In the Beginner Category, 1st place is rewarded with 1500 $SAND, 2nd place gets 1000 $SAND, while 3rd place comes with 750 $SAND and spots from 4th to 10th each receive 250 $SAND tokens.
All prizes are sent on the Polygon network but in order to be eligible for the top 3, you will have to complete KYC verification or be a verified creator. Verified creators are those who either have a studio linked with a GMF (Game Maker Fund) account or have previously taken part in 5 contests, finishing in the top 10 in one of them.
