Polygon Labs and Square Enix are teaming up for Symbiogenesis

Final Fantasy developer Square Enix has teamed up with Polygon to launch Symbiogenesis, a unique Web3 experience. As a result, the project's in-game mechanism will be hosted on Polygon, with its NFT collectibles hosted on Ethereum. 

Symbiogenesis, first unveiled in November '22, is a dynamic Web3 experience centered on digital collectible art and a storyline that players progress through in a virtual, turn-based adventure. The art evolves with each player's strategic move, allowing the community to collectively shape the game.

The project takes place on a mysterious floating continent, with unique storylines unfolding based on digital collectibles that represent different characters. Players can unlock tons of engaging stories about this secretive world by holding or trading digital collectibles and earning them through various missions.

Players could also replicate and sell digital art of their characters, share their unique storylines with others, and complete missions as a team. The game has several different endings. Only three players who meet certain criteria will be selected to participate in the final "World Mission." Chosen players will decide the story's ending, as well as the fate of the world and everyone in it.

"Square Enix opted to tap into Polygon's high transaction speeds, low gas fees, and overall user-friendliness to deliver this unique experience to Web3 fans."

Initially, the game will release a number of off-chain utility items that can be traded on-chain via Polygon. A series of campaigns leading up to Symbiogenesis' launch will also be carried out to help prospective players become acquainted with the game's blockchain integration.
