Qatar Airways has joined the list of prominent groups who have expressed interest in developing their brands by participating in virtual activities on the Metaverse.

Recently, the airway has announced the launch of its first Metaverse project called QVerse, which will allow interested persons to visit and navigate the Premium Check-in area at the International Airport of Hamad (HIA) virtually.

The company’s official statement read thus:

“We believe that the future is virtual. The metaverse will empower human beings, expand their horizons and break their limits by challenging the most basic methods that were once limitations.”

The company believes its foray into the metaverse will promote further interaction with its clients while expanding its sphere of influence. In addition, QVerse will bring to life the desire of passengers for immersive content that can help provide them with the necessary information before purchasing their tickets. This way, they will have a more fulfilling relationship with the company.

Meanwhile, the company considers this move the first of many as it plans to unveil more metaverse-focused projects in the future involving a higher level of functionalities, places and experiences to its Platform, thereby making it more relatable, exciting and thrilling for users using the Oculus Quest VR platform.

Qatar Airways also plans to purchase tickets for physical fights and the choice of seats on real aircraft through the Metaverse. Plans to collaborate with Decentraland and The Sandbox metaverse were not ruled out, and future collaborations could occur.

They further added:

“We are currently focusing on creating our metaverse rather than investing in Decentraland or Sandbox. But we do not rule out this plan. We continue to explore how we can develop this area and strategically incorporate NFTs into QVerse.”
