Project O is launching its 3rd Alpha Tournament on Saturday, September 20, bringing with it a competitive format and exclusive rewards. Hosted using Tourney Bot inside Project O's Discord, this latest playtest will see the mobile-first card game open its PC servers for the event, as the competitive scene continues to expand ahead of its full release.
Practice Tournament Kicks Things Off Early Saturday
Before the main event begins, players will get a chance to warm up in a dedicated practice tournament. This session starts at 4:00 AM (SGT) on Saturday, September 20, and is set up as a single elimination bracket. Each match is best-of-one, and participants will play solo. The team at Koin Games is opening server access one day earlier, on Thursday, September 18, allowing players enough time to test decks and game strategies ahead of the weekend.
The practice event (called Ultimate Tournament Preparation) has 46 out of 128 spots filled. While it is designed as a fun warm-up, players who join will also get the chance to win packs during the playtest. Registration is now open and is managed through the Project O Discord.
Alpha Tournament 3 Brings Double Elimination and Bigger Prizes
The main Alpha Tournament #3 starts at 10:00 PM (SGT) on Saturday, with check-in scheduled for 2:00 PM UTC and closing at 2:30 PM UTC. This will be a double elimination event, offering a second chance to compete even after an early loss. Matches will be best-of-one until the finals, which shift to a best-of-three format.
A total of 86 players have already signed up, out of a possible 512 participants. The prizes for this round include blueprint rewards and in-game card packs. First place will get 2x blueprints and 3x packs, second will take home 1x blueprint and 2x packs, while third receives 1x blueprint and a single pack. Players ranking between 4th and 12th will win 2x packs each, and those placing from 13th to 32nd will get 1x pack.
Tournament Rules: What Players Need to Know
Project O's 3rd Alpha Tournament will be fully managed using Tourney Bot on Discord. Players are expected to handle room creation and communication directly with opponents using dedicated match threads. The game's test servers, while not built for large-scale live service just yet, are expected to handle the competition with support from the admin team if issues arise.
Once a match is ready to start, one player must create a lobby with both usernames and the match number in the room name. Players should not leave the lobby after creating it, as it will remain active and may cause confusion. If the opponent doesn't show up, admins must be tagged in the match thread. In case of any tech issues, both players are allowed to replay the match if both crash. If only one crashes, the game can still continue unless both agree to replay.
Score reporting will be handled in the Discord match threads, and both players must leave the game client open after the match ends to allow for possible score verification. Incorrect score reporting, especially if not contested quickly, can lead to disqualification.
Trash talking and use of in-game emotes are allowed and encouraged, but anything that crosses the line into toxic or insulting behavior can result in bans from the tournament.
How to Join the Tournament and Access the Game
To join the tournament, you will first need access to the Project O game client. This is done through the official Discord server.
Once you join the server, head to the #playtest-role channel and click the button to get your Playtester role. After that, a new channel will appear named #playtest-signup-and-install. This channel includes all setup instructions and official download links. All communication and sign-up details for tournaments are also handled through the Discord.
Setting Up the Test Build
Before playing, you'll need to complete the NDA form and submit your email address for whitelisting. A guide video is included in the setup channel to walk players through the steps. Make sure your email is submitted before tournament day or you won't be able to log in.
On the day of the playtest, players can download the official test client from the channel. Once downloaded, confirm the file's legitimacy by checking for "Koin Games Inc" as the verified publisher in the Digital Signatures tab. You'll also need a password to install the game, which is shown in the same channel.
After installation, log in using the whitelisted email. A one-time confirmation code will be sent to that address. Enter it to set your password and access the client. Once inside, you can start playing and testing the game.
A Closer Look at Project O
Project O is being built as a fast-paced, competitive mobile trading card game (TCG) with support from web3 giant Immutable. The game is developed by Koin Games, a team known for working on titles like Candy Crush, Apex Legends, and Microsoft Solitaire. With a design focused on 7–9 minute sessions, Project O offers a mix of strategic card play and digital collection.
Each player brings a 13-card deck into battle, playing on a 3-lane field that emphasizes clear, tactical choices. What helps Project O stand out is its use of original characters and reimagined figures such as Winnie the Pooh, Queen of Hearts, and Robin and Boots, all set in a new fictional world.
Project O's full launch is targeted at mobile players, but the tournament this weekend will be hosted on PC.
Immutable and Web3 Infrastructure Behind the Game
The decision to launch Project O on Immutable is part of a wider push to bring web2-style games into blockchain gaming. Immutable offers tools like Passport, a simple login system, and Immutable Play, which helps games with pre-launch growth and player engagement.
According to Koin Games, Project O will also feature a digital collector platform where players can earn rare cards, join collector-only events, and manage their portfolio through a digital marketplace. There are plans for pack battles, loot box drops, and limited-run sets that tap into the kind of collection gameplay that has made physical card games popular.
Their goal is to create a strong, competitive card game that also appeals to players who enjoy collecting and trading digital assets.
How to Join This Weekend's Events
Both the practice tournament and Alpha Tournament #3 are open for sign-up through the Project O Discord. Players will need to check in for the main event on Saturday at 2:00 PM UTC. Sign-ups remain open until the tournament starts, and bracket details are managed through Tourney Bot.
Project O will continue running alpha tournaments and weekly playtests throughout its development phase. This gives players a chance to test their decks and strategies while helping the team refine balance and grow the early competitive community.
