Game development company The Minders Studio has recently shared various details on the upcoming new matchmaking mechanism for the battle royale game mode of Planet Sandbox.
The new update will make it so that the amount of bots NFT players play with is limited in order for players to battle more against each other than bots, with the team stating that implementing this new mechanism will allow “for a more balanced and fair gameplay” though it may take longer to start matches as a result.
Aside from this change, the game will also be divided into “Golden Earn Event” and “Sandbox Time”. In the first one, it’ll be possible to play and earn using NFTs, while the second one is a free-to-play mode that allows the use of NFTs but it’s not possible to earn, regardless of whether you use NFTs or not.
By participating in the Golden Earn Event, you’ll be able to earn NFTs, while using NFTs such as champions or weapons during the event will require paying a certain price in order to use them. Those who use Boosters will not count as NFT players, so there won’t be any need to pay anything to use them. If you’re playing this event as an NFT player, then a match can only start once there are at least 2 NFT players, while those who play for free will be put together with bots and other free players, with rooms filling up with bots if no more free players join within 5 minutes.
