Following a successful end to the first season of 2D roguelike Franky GO! the team at Lonely Lily Studios has given the web3 gaming community a teaser of some of the new features planned to be included in the upcoming Season 2 of this browser-based on-chain title.

Season 1 Highlights

The first season officially ended on July 13, with the web3 game developer posting a number of milestones highlighting the success of the game’s first reward-based seasonal event.

In Season 1, this Abstract-powered title garnered more than 38,000 unique players, who have collectively played almost 682,000 games. Each run required the use of at least 1 ticket, and while you do get a couple of free ones every day, if you wanted to play more in the same day you would then have to buy more tickets using ETH, with the start of every run burning a ticket in the process. Players could burn multiple tickets for one run in order to multiply their rewards, which included the game’s main currency Crumbs, and a number of different memecoins such as $ABSTER and $RETSBA. That being said, the last milestone revealed by the team is that participants have managed to collect more than 107 million Crumbs in total. That in-game currency will be put to good use for the upcoming play and earn period.

“Thank you to everyone who jumped in, battled through encounters, and collected crumbs along the way. This first season was all about learning the world, making tough decisions, and preparing for what’s ahead.”

Now, let’s see what lies ahead for this summer’s new season.

Season 2 Features Teased So Far

In Season 2, some of the features teased so far include an upgrade system, leveling up in mini-games, merging equipment, and using keys.

You can expect upgrading to be a core new feature that players will want to make the most out of in order to make their character as strong as possible for a more rewarding blockchain gaming experience. This mechanic, and almost any other feature, will require the use of Crumbs, which are earned through gameplay. It looks like upgrading will allow players to earn key NFTs, level up in a variety of mini-games, as well as unlock and merge various equipment so you can start a new run in a much stronger fashion.

Keys give you a random opportunity of earning an equipment item which you can use to boost your stats and thus increase your survival chances. They have been airdropped to Beta, Day 1, and Week 1 players, while the top Crumb collectors on the leaderboard of the first season should be receiving keys at some point this week as well.

These are all the features that have been teased so far in the official X announcement thread. An exact launch date was not give at the time of writing, but you can probably look forward to the new season starting at some point this summer.

About Franky GO!

Franky GO! is an on-chain idle RPG where the goal is to survive various encounters throughout 10 varied days by making the right choices and winning idle battles to win crypto meme token rewards on the Abstract Chain. It is playable as a free to play title on web browsers during seasons only.

To start a run, players need to consume at least one ticket. There are a couple of tickets distributed for free during a season, and anyone who wants to get more tickets to continue playing for the day will need to buy them using ETH. Once you start a run, your Pepe-like frog character called Franky will embark on his adventurous 10-day journey where each day brings a unique event to face. One day you might come across a gecko with a trade offer that can reduce your HP, and the next day you may be unlucky enough to be zapped by a firefly swarm out of nowhere. Some days can pass in safe travel, but sometimes you will have different enemies pop out of the woods to stand in your path, forcing you to engage in an idle battle that can award memecoins and the game’s currency Crumbs if you win the fight. The longer you survive, the more rewards await for you to claim from your adventures.

If you want to multiply the rewards you earn in a run, you can choose to start the game by burning multiple tickets instead of just one. You can also get one guaranteed ticket each day by becoming a Franky’s Dinner NFT holder. Each asset from this collection guarantees one ticket, so the more of them you hold, the more tickets you get each day. You can find these NFTs on OpenSea on the Ethereum network for the current floor price of 0.09 ETH. The collection consists of 1,069 unique animated frogs serving as genesis collectibles in the Franky’s Dinner ecosystem, and holders can look forward to getting priority access to future activations in the ecosystem, according to the FAQ section of the collection’s official OpenSea page.

As you wait for Season 2 to go live, you can play the studio’s 2D platformer, Franky’s Adventures, for free on Android and iOS via the Google Play Store and Apple App Store respectively. More than 500k runs have been made in this mobile game so far, according to an official X post from early July, and you might be able to find special, play to collect tournament events appear from time to time in which you can win rewards such as NFTs by collecting apples and baking pies. Collect apples through platforming gameplay and by completing daily quests while using the in-game currency to bake pies and spend on various cosmetics.
