Gala Games and NDream Studios have announced that Eternal Paradox, a hybrid 4X/turn-based RPG, is set to officially be released on Tuesday, December 5th.

Once the game officially launches, the Web3 title’s first ever 49-day season will begin. Before release though, interested players can take part in the sale of the first generation of Mercenary Tomes, which began on November 23rd.

What Is a Mercenary Tome?

A Mercenary Tome is like an NFT lootbox which is guaranteed to contain one randomly-chosen NFT Mercenary. Players have a chance of getting one of 10 unique Mercenaries from opening a Tome. They come in 4 different rarities, differentiated by color: Blue for Rare, Purple for Epic, Gold for Legendary, and Red for Ancient.

A supply of 3000 is up for grabs, and 2551 remain at the time of writing. They are available for purchase on the official store of Gala Games, with a discounted price of 31% off. This means that the pre-launch sale price is 8039.155 $GALA tokens, which is equivalent to around $210 USD at the time of writing. Once the game officially releases, and if supply still remains, the discount will be gone, meaning the price of a Mercenary Tome will be 11657.358 $GALA or around $304 USD.

Do I Need a Mercenary NFT to Play?

No; it seems that the game will be free to play on PC and mobile devices, meaning players will be able to enjoy the strategic title using in-game Mercenaries. The key difference is that the levels and abilities of NFT Mercenaries do not reset from season to season, so if you want your progression of these characters to be saved, then you will have to own a tokenized version of them.
