DeFi Kingdoms has announced a partnership with Metis Labs at ETH Denver that will lead to the launch of the Colosseum featuring PvP combat over to the Metis blockchain.
Partnership Details
Thanks to this new partnership, the new DFK Colosseum zone will exclusively launch on the Layer 2 network. The launch of the 3v3 battle arena will take place in 3 phases.
In the first phase, players will be able to play private matches that will include customization options such as placing wagers and changing fight requirements. This is followed by the second phase, which will bring an automated tournament system that will allow the developers to host various tournaments containing “lucrative” prize pools. Last but not least, the third phase will make it possible for anyone to set up their own tournament, adding their own prizes and entry requirements.
The PvP gameplay is set to consist of the same 3v3 turn-based combat that has been used for the Mad Boar and the recently launched Bad Motherclucker Void Hunt.
About Metis
Metis is an Ethereum-based optimistic rollup Layer 2 network that launched in May 2021 and is soon set to enable native staking by becoming the first Ethereum L2 to decentralize its sequencer, according to the announcement. Thanks to Metis Labs looking to expand beyond its DeFi ecosystem by exploring the gaming sector, the two sides managed to find common ground leading to this collaboration on the upcoming new PvP gameplay. Metis Labs will in particular support marketing, development and the launch of PvP combat, while DeFi Kingdoms will provide exclusivity of every new feature for one year after release.
