Leading play-to-earn gaming guild Yield Guild Games (YGG) has announced the official launch of Season 3 of the Guild Advancement Program (GAP).

The third season of this achievement-focused program kicked off this week on Monday, February 13th, and comes with the introduction of the GAP Council, upgraded questing system, new games as well as various other improvements. With Season 2 seeing an increase of the amount of achievement NFTs in comparison to the debut season, the leaders of this Web3 guild now aim to make this latest iteration “to be the best GAP season yet.”

Guild members need to own a YGG Guild Badge in order to participate and have a chance at earning rewards such as non-transferrable achievement NFTs and YGG tokens.

The Community Product Lead at YGG, Mark Tan, said the following in the official announcement post:

“Our main priority at YGG is to support and foster the growth of our community members who seek to participate and contribute. We are dedicated to helping our members establish a positive gaming reputation and rewarding those who make a valuable impact. Furthermore, the GAP will serve as one of YGG’s token distribution mechanisms for our valued members, providing them with the necessary incentives to be engaged in guild activities. Our ultimate aim is to improve community and game partner involvement, creating a vibrant and inclusive environment for all.”

The newest achievement-based season comes with over 100 quests to complete across various blockchain games, with the new ones added being Pixels and Crypto Unicorns, the latter of which recently got a cinematic trailer for its upcoming jousting gameplay. The full list of games is the following: Axie Infinity, Big Time, Castle Crush, Crypto Unicorns, CyBall, Genopets, Legends of Venari, League of Kingdoms, Pixels, Skyweaver and Splinterlands.

Next to getting achievements through these partnered games, there are also non-game achievements for the community to earn too, which can be done by doing things such as streaming, content creating, volunteering and more.

The newly-formed GAP Council represents a “community-led initiative” where the goal is to work with the community on improving the program without using governance tokens. This means that the guild has now started putting more focus on “identifying and nurturing community leaders” instead of just rewarding active gaming. Last month, YGG Japan secured $2.95 million in a private funding round from 18 different companies, including Square Enix and SEGA.

Yield Guild Games was voted as last year’s best blockchain gaming guild over at the PlayToEarn Blockchain Game Awards 2022.
