Tribesters: Keeper of Secrets, a standalone isometric adventure game set to be part of a larger social MMO on Ronin, is now officially live in open beta, giving everyone a chance to play for free for a chance at winning NFTs.

What Does The Public Beta Bring?

Aside from making the game free to play, this latest beta release introduces various new enemies that include stronger mobs and “many more corrupted animals” while expanding the Dungeon with 2 new areas for players to dive into. There are also 2 new items, one of which opens up more crafting options, and Portals are now available only when you complete a quest. Speaking of quests, 6 new quests have been added to the Ancients questline to allow players to continue progressing through what is now a 10-quest storyline. The end-game boss has also been added, and with a new backend system now in place, the team has reset everyone’s scores to give newcomers a fair chance, though Kudos points continue to remain. Kudos points are gained from social and gameplay tasks on GG Portal, the studio’s Web3 social platform where you will have to sign up to become a part of this community.

With this launch, the developers are looking to host new weekly contests, special events and residency (art) programs, while allowing anyone to win NFTs by completing weekly challenges.

How to Start Playing

To begin playing this Ronin-powered title, you will first need to set up an account on GG Portal. Once you connect your wallet and complete an identity survey to determine the Tribe you belong to through a couple of personality-based questions, you can head to the “Game Connect” section of the platform to set up your Gamer ID. Once you’re finished, you’re ready to login to the blockchain title for free.

With a Gamer ID set up, you will now have to download the game through the Mavis Hub after which you can login with your GamerID upon opening the game. This will let you begin your journey of restoring balance to the island of Solas as a blue character called Wisp, brought to the world by the Tree of Life. Players can complete various story-based quests that consist of objectives such as fighting enemies to defend a specific NPC and/or object, collecting a certain type of resource and so on. After reaching the Ancients Village, you’ll find a questboard featuring multiple daily quests to do.

As you play, you’re essentially completing one of the tasks up on GG Portal, which seems to be the only gameplay-related one at the time of writing, and that includes collecting 100 in-game points in game to get the same amount of Kudos points. This is a recurrent reward, so you get points for each 100 earned. The reason this is the only gameplay task is probably because of it acting as a bridge to the game's many quests. Points can be easily earned through gameplay, so defeating enemies, collecting materials, crafting items and completing quests is all rewarded with points. While it doesn’t quite currently seem clear how these points work, players will likely be able to redeem them for rewards such as NFTs.

Speaking of NFTs, players will soon be able to boost their Kudos points by owning elemental creatures called Wildling Companions. According to a recent AMA, you can look forward to the public mint phase on July 16th, with allowlisted users able to mint a day earlier. Prices are currently unknown, but participants will be able to mint as many assets as they want while the time for the reveal of the NFT you minted is set to happen 2-3 days after minting. Players will be able to trade them on the Mavis Marketplace and potentially secondary marketplaces as well. There will be 3 types of Wildlings: Alva, Bran and Neve. Alva is a Fire Wildling providing a 10% boost to Kudos points, while the Air Wildling Bran gives you a 20% boost and the Water Wilding Neve gives you the highest buff of 30%.
