Developer Zillion Whales have announced that they have successfully raised $500k in a seed round for the development of their free-to-play Ronin-based mobile card RTS, Wild Forest.

Funding Details

Among the participants in this investment round were Animoca Brands, OKX Ventures, Spartan and Kahuna. The Discord announcement notes that Kahuna was an early investor in Sky Mavis, the creator of Axie Infinity.

“We are very careful picking our partnerships that directly impact the future of Wild Forest. We are fortunate to be funded by the companies of this scale. It’s an important validation milestone for us which opens access to world-class experts and valuable connections.”

If you find the amount of funding in this round relatively low in comparison to the financing announcements you tend to usually see in the crypto space where companies raise millions of dollars, the studio has provided a reason for this situation. In this case, the developers have “intentionally kept it humble” in order for them to be able to reserve more of the game’s tokens for an upcoming Community Round. By doing so, the company wants the community to benefit as well while becoming a part of their growing ecosystem.

New Milestone

Following this raise, the developers announced that their Web3 title has reached a new milestone: 100k installs! Despite not having fully launched yet, the game continues to grow on mobile, with the team teasing now that a PC version on the Mavis Hub is coming very soon for Windows and Mac users.

Earlier this month, the Play-to-Airdrop Season 1 for Wild Forest went live, which seems set to end in a couple of days.
