South Korean gaming publisher and developer Wemade has formed a strategic partnership with Whampoa Digital, a Singapore-based tech investment arm of Whampoa Group, in order to launch a $100 million investment fund focusing on Web3 and Middle East initiatives geared towards digital assets.

Partnership Details

Through this partnership, the company behind the blockchain MMORPG MIR4 will be setting up the “Wemade Web3 Fund,” which is aimed at supporting WEMIX Play Center partner developers. Whampoa Digital will work as an ecosystem partner for both the fund and the WEMIX Play Center located in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Innovation Hub. 

Aureole Foong, the Senior Partner of Whampoa Group, said the following:

“We are excited to be joining forces with Wemade, a powerhouse in the Web3 gaming space. This partnership will allow us to pioneer new horizons in the digital asset industry beyond our already established sectors, as well as foster innovation in the Middle East, one of the world’s fastest-growing regions in the Web3 space.”

With this collaboration, both sides will look to work on “mutual deal and project referrals” that are mainly in Web3, according to the announcement, with co-investments set to potentially be made with “promising projects.”
