AlwaysGeeky Games has announced that a new VOXEL reward system is making its way to free-to-play tactical RPG Voxie Tactics, once the Unity version of the Web3 title releases on April 29th.
What Does the New System Introduce?
The new system is set to provide players with more VOXEL rewards by introducing Rank Rewards and Voxie Bounties.
Rank Rewards
According to the announcement, the upcoming new Rank Rewards, which are based on the player’s performance, will reward more VOXEL tokens the higher the rank you are. A total of 6 ranking tiers will be included: Trainee, Novice, Competitor, Veteran, Master, and Tactician. Everyone will start at the 3rd rank, Competitor, with the first 5 matches determining a more accurate rank for you. The official post states that rank rewards will start immediately and will take team compositions and other bonuses into account, meaning the rarity of Voxies, Pet bonuses and more will be considered.

The image above is an example of how rank tiers might affect your rewards. For example, if the standard prize for winning is 5 VOXEL tokens, and you’re in the Competitor Rank and you win the match, you will be awarded with 5 VOXELs as the reward multiplier is x1, but if you win in the Master Rank where the multiplier is x3, you will receive 15 VOXELs instead.
The actual number of VOXEL rewards from winning ranked matches will be revealed in the future.
Voxie Bounties
Voxie Bounties represent a new way for players to earn VOXEL tokens, with rewards depending on the number of Voxies defeated or protected during a PvP match. Bounties take the rankings of opposing players into account and overall allow players to earn more tokens for their performances instead of just for winning the battle, meaning you could even get tokens from the matches you lost as well depending on the amount of opposing Voxies you managed to beat. The bigger the rank difference between the two players, the higher the bounty percentage, meaning potentially bigger rewards.

Using the above image, the developers provided a couple of examples to give the community a better idea of how this new feature works.
In one example, the team compared what happens when a player of Competitor rank loses against the highest-ranked player but manages to take down 1 Voxie in the process. With a rank difference of +3 between the two, the Voxie Bounty is set to 40%. If the prize for winning a match in the Competitor Rank is 5 VOXEL tokens, then the following formula is used to calculate the reward for losing but defeating 1 Voxie: (1 / 3 Voxies) x (5 VOXEL) x (40% Voxie Bounty) = 0.67 VOXEL.
The match winner, instead of getting 10 tokens for winning the match as a Tactician-ranked player, is deducted –1.34 VOXEL using the same formula (adding a minus to the final result). This is because the winner failed to protect one of the 3 Voxies, meaning that instead of the base prize, the winner gets 8.66 VOXEL tokens. This way, both sides are fairly rewarded not just from the final outcome of the match, but also on the overall player performance during it. More examples can be found in the official announcement.
In February this year, developer AlwaysGeeky Games published a new 2024 roadmap, teasing the biggest year for Voxie Tactics yet. In it they revealed that a remastered PC version of the Windows title is on its way and that it is being built using the Unity engine. This Unity version, slated to launch on April 29th, will also make its way to macOS, Linux, and mobile devices.
