The developers of metaverse Victoria VR World have officially announced that they have decided to dedicate development of their blockchain MMORPG towards PC VR devices in order to provide the best possible gaming experience built using the Unreal Engine.
Why Focus on PC VR?
According to the team, playing this upcoming Web3 metaverse through PC VR is the best way to fully experience it, either through a wired or wireless connection. Another important reason for this decision is because the project “simply cannot fit in the Oculus Quest 2 or Quest 3 performance limitations,” as the open world the team is creating is said to be too large to properly handle those technologies. Eventually though, the studio hopes to make use of Pixel Streaming technology in order to bring the MMO to mobile devices, with the team also expecting the standalone VR headset limitations to be remedied in the future, which will make it easier for them to make their metaverse work on such devices.
By focusing on PC VR, the team is able to make use of Unreal Engine’s advanced rendering techniques, thus making it possible to create a better, more immersive VR experience where detailed environments won’t hamper the smooth performance. Essentially, the official post states that VR devices that support the OpenXR Standard, such as the Oculus Quest 2, are compatible with this metaverse.
Benefits
By developing for PC VR, some of the benefits that users will be able to enjoy include better visual quality thanks to larger memory size allowing access to additional processing power. Alongside these technical benefits, the official announcement claims that PC VR makes it possible to reach a broader audience of VR enthusiasts, paving the way for community growth and an active metaverse.
