Developer Janus Interactive Studio is back with new details on the upcoming full release of free-to-play WW2 card game, Storm Warfare.

New Features

After announcing the release of Storm Warfare on the Epic Games Store, the studio has now provided more details on the new features the community can expect to see at launch.

Once the Web3 title is officially released, players can look forward to the Operation Overlord Content Pack, competitive tournaments, balance upgrades, player & Commander progression, a mission system, ranked play, a marketplace and in-game store.

Operation Overlord Content Pack & Competitive Tournaments

The first content pack for the game will go live with 70 new cards that include 5 Hero Cards alongside 2 Unique Cardbacks and 2 Battleboards. It has previously been revealed that the new Battleboards include Kursk and Midway, while the new Legendary Hero Cards represent US Tank Commander Ruben Rivers, German tactician Fedor von Bock, aviator of the British forces Allen Ward, Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, and Hero of the Soviet Union, Dmitry Lavrinenko.

The pack is also said to provide Basic and Tactical Pack modes, “tailored to suit both novice and experienced strategists’ needs and preferences.”

When it comes to competitive tournaments, players will be able to compete and earn rewards in 2 different tournament modes: Hustle Royale and Weekend Tournaments. Hustle Royale will have 32 players battle it out in fast-paced action while Weekend Tournaments will consist of 2-day warfare.

Balance Upgrades, Player & Commander Progression

After analyzing data from plenty of matches, the team has made various balancing changes said to bring fairer gameplay that gives each faction an equal chance of winning. According to the announcement, players can look forward to “a diverse meta with multiple winning strategies.”

When it comes to progression, players will be able to earn XP by completing missions, earning $SWAR tokens while unlocking new mission slots. By doing this, your Commander progressively changes, gaining ranks that can unlock mission bonuses, with the medals the Commander gains from the milestones you reach potentially increasing their value as an asset.

Mission System & Ranked Play

As you complete missions, you get to climb your way to the top of the leaderboard and earn $SWAR tokens along the way, which can be converted into $JAN. With the $JAN token, players can buy cards, cardbacks, emotes and bundles in the Store and Marketplace.

Progress through competitive leaderboards by participating in ranked play, which includes playing in Ranked PvP matches throughout various seasons. There will be ranked seasons that last about a month, with each season said to provide in-game currency, NFT packs, Commander XP points, singular cards and exclusive cardbacks. Rewards will vary based on your seasonal ranking.

Store & Marketplace

Players will be able to buy various featured items, such as cosmetics, limited cards and card packs in the upcoming In-game Store using $JAN tokens. The Marketplace however will enable players to trade their assets as well as rent cards, battle boards and more to help you create your desired deck.
