The developers of Ronin-powered card-based tower defense game Ragnarok: Monster World have announced the introduction of Ragmons.
What are Ragmons?
Ragmons are distinct creatures in the Ragnarok universe divided into 5 rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic. They differ not only by appearance and size as each monster has their own exclusive skills and movesets, allowing players to create diverse decks tailored to various strategies.
At launch there will be around 30-40 Ragmons, with more to be added every season alongside a seasonal balance patch to constantly keep gameplay fresh.
Are They NFTs?
All monsters will be available as off-chain characters and on-chain NFTs to make it accessible to Web2 gamers while also having the option to own the Ragmons as NFTs. Aside from ownership, Web3 integration won’t bring in any unfair advantages so as to provide everyone with a balanced gameplay experience. It will be possible to convert off-chain creatures into NFTs.
Collecting & Levelling
In the lead up to the game’s launch, there will be various events and sales through which the community will be able to get these cards. You will also have a chance of getting monsters through upcoming quests as well as Gacha and Lottery events. Special quests that give access to sales events are also set to be available. More details on gaining Ragmons will be available in the future.
Each Ragmon will start at Level 1 and be able to progress up to Level 10 in the rarity they are in. Levelling will be done through the Level Up Merge feature. This will require players to merge Ragmons with the one they’d like to level up. It seems merging will not be a process with guaranteed success, with the chances of succeeding depending on the amount of Ragmons used and the levels they’re at. Creatures used for merging end up getting burned in order to control market supply and attempt to maintain their rarity and value.
