Sci-fi action RPG Phantom Galaxies has been updated with the huge Patch 5.2.4, introducing a host of new goodies, improvements and balancing changes.
What’s New in the Latest Patch?
The latest update brings with it new animations for Starfighter transformations, with the transform speed now significantly increased. Combat range has been extended to make it possible to deal higher damage than before for longer-range shots, while the Mecha form can now use the Tech Ability in space as well as boost without having to go into ship form.
There are 2 new important features in this new version: an in-game text chat system and keyboard/controller remapping. This means that players can now use a global chat channel as well as location channels such as PvP and Patrols by pressing enter. Holding the same key lets you hide and reveal the chat, while using the left and right arrow keys lets you move through the channels that are included. If you’ve ever wanted to adjust some controls to better suit your preferences, well now you finally can, not only on keyboard but also on controller as well.
New Gear Collection & Patrols
Next to these new features, there’s also new content to uncover, including new weapons across all gear tracks and new daily Patrol missions.
Specifically, the developers have introduced Gear Collection: Rangers II, which consists of 4 new weapons and 2 pieces of Gear, with gear rewards now included in Standard and Elite tracks.
The patch notes in the Discord announcement also reveal the release of 4 new daily Patrol missions, so you can expect to see a different mission to enjoy every day, with the next day replacing the current mission with a different one, making the recently-launched mode more varied. Alongside these new challenges, there is also now a Patrol scoring system through which you gain points for doing objectives and taking down enemies, while getting killed takes away some of your points. For the time being this system is only used to show off that you’re the high scorer, but the patch notes do tease that this is only “for now,” so it will be interesting to see what the developers have in store for this system in the future.
More details on everything included in this release can be found in the game's official Discord server.
