After jumping into NFTs in 2021 with the release of their own NFT collection called the “Pepsi Mic Drop” the American soft drink maker is now diving into the metaverse by launching a 3D digital space only for users in China.
Revealed earlier this month and built on their WeChat mini-program titled “Play Pepsi Concept Store” the social and music-focused space lets users play as avatars whose heads represent microphones, making the avatars evidently based on the previously-mentioned NFT collection. Quite fitting for the 3D space you get to explore too, given that there is a disco area where you can pull off your best dancing moves as you hang out with others and jam to the beat in this predominantly-blue colored world, all while of course, heading to the virtual bar to get drink some Pepsi.
Digital partying isn’t the only thing you can do in this interestingly-designed metaverse where you can flip the world upside down and see what else there is to explore. There also Pepsi Zero Sugar coins users can collect as they explore on foot or by flying car, which can be used for getting entries into prize draws, with some of the goodies being given out including Pepsi-branded merch. Users can even head to a zone dedicated for using real-life bottle caps to participate in lucky draws.
Users can explore locations dedicated to each of the brand’s products, as well as an eco-focused area where younger generations are educated on recycling and encouraged to participate in the brand’s eco-friendly activities.
