Developer Maniac Panda Games has officially announced the completion of the redesign of 5 playable species for their free-to-play third-person action MMORPG Outer Ring, and to mark the occasion, they’ve published an official species trailer teasing the redesigns that will be revealed over time.
The 5 species that are a part of this blockchain title’s universe are called the Earthlings, the Va’ans, the Scavengons, the Mechs and the Oracles. With this official trailer, the studio is kicking off a narrative campaign designed to run from this month until the game’s Early Access Pre-Alpha comes out in June this year, with the goal of the media campaign being to give players the detailed historical background surrounding these playable characters, thus learning more about the lore of this sci-fi game that takes place in the Indabi Nebula galaxy and is based on the novel “Outer Ring: Dawn Chronicles” by Daniel Valdés. Next to learning more about the story, the developers will also share “the transformation of the species” from their first design to their latest low-poly style.
According to the official announcement, every species comes with its own cultural and physical traits, and due to the game’s dynamic gameplay design, each of the main species will be able to enhance their abilities as time goes on, allowing players the ability to “refine and adapt their play style.”
Near the end of last year, the studio released a tech demo for the MMO, made in Unreal Engine 5. It's also been voted as one of the most anticipated blockchain games at the PlayToEarn Blockchain Game Awards 2022.
