The developers of turn-based sports game MonkeyLeague have recently announced the AC Milan Alpha Version, slated to officially launch on June 5th.
In this version 2.06, selected participants will get to enjoy new features, QoL changes and “special AC Milan goodies.” Among the new content included in this update are new Core Actions, a Drag & Hold mechanic, sound & loading screens and a new stadium.
The new Core Actions introduced in this version are a Midrange Pass and Midrange Kick, which can be used depending on how positioned your MonkeyAthlete is, adding further depth to the strategic gameplay.
Actions now no longer require tapping to use them, thanks to the introduction of the Drag & Hold mechanic, which, as the name may imply, makes it so that performing moves such as passes requires selecting the desired MonkeyAthlete and then dragging your finger to an area on the pitch that you want, while holding in order to adjust the intensity of the move you want to play. This means that if an action is too intense, there is a higher chance of getting a foul.
In tune with the name of this version, the latest alpha update will feature a new AC Milan-themed stadium that players will be able to play in against the AI, with the release notes mentioning that multi-field support is currently in the works in order to be able to “lay the groundwork for future stadiums and visual changes to Leagues and pitches.”

Between the Login and Lobby screens, as well as before a match starts, players will now be able to see new loading screens, while during a game itself, there are now new sound effects you’ll be able to hear in the environment as well as when using various different skills. Next to these new additions, the visuals and AI have also been upgraded, adding new visual elements for the new mechanic while updating the Top Bar and Turn indicator, and making the AI smarter.
Everyone who is able to participate in this version should have received an email by now. Full details on everything included in this update can be found here.
AC Milan initially formed a partnership with MonkeyLeague in September last year, while last week the latter posted a tweet teasing the former’s involvement in the latest alpha version.
