MOBOX, the well-known GameFi ecosystem, is looking to make significant strides in 2024, as revealed in their new product roadmap which teases the creation of their own gaming L2 codenamed ‘Desolator’.
Roadmap Details
The roadmap for the new year contains details on their plans for the recently-announced Dragonverse Neo, as well as developments on their game engine, and milestones for their new gaming-focused Layer 2 chain. While milestones are listed, no specific timeframes seem to be available for any at the time of writing.
Dragonverse Neo
Dragonverse Neo, a co-created and co-governed 3D open world, is set to go live in alpha on Windows PCs on Bitcoin. Thanks to their new collaboration with Bitmap Tech, the Web3 title will officially deploy on their advanced BTC L2 solution to help power a “new era of Web3 gaming.”
In the same year, it seems the anime-based MMORPG will have an official launch, followed by the release of an expansion pack, for which details do not seem to be currently available.
What does seem to be known however is some of the features we can expect to experience once the game releases, though it’s not stated whether these will be included in the alpha version or in the full release. Some of the game's features we can expect to see eventually included though include in-game tokenomics, PvP combat, limited-time quests, an open marketplace, mini-game publishing system, UGC construction feature, item crafting, and more.
Game Engine
Players will be able to use a user-friendly 3D engine to create in-game content by using various resource kits and pre-built templates. For the first version of this engine, it seems that the developers will focus on developing a physics simulation engine, multi-camera support, avatar styles, post-processing, particle & lighting effects, avatar outlines to provide an anime feel, advanced in-game chat feature, and much more.
Gaming L2
Codenamed Desolator, this upcoming layer 2 geared towards gaming will enable streamlined development for both in-house and third-party games, helping create a diverse gaming ecosystem where $MBOX will be the native gas token. Holders of this token will also be able to use it for staking through PoS validator nodes, and governance will also be part of their token’s utility.
For 2024, the team will look to developer a modular rollup architecture, native L2 bridge and third-party bridge while working to deploy various games on the new L2 and collaborating with “top-tier RaaS providers for infrastructure like execution layer setup, blockchain explorer,” and more. A built-in abstraction layer will also be worked on in an effort to make the chain as accessible as possible, making key components such as wallets and blockchain explorers compatible with account abstraction.
