After announcing Update 1.7: Pillars of Power earlier this month, the patch is now officially live in action-adventure mining game, Mines of Dalarnia.
Update Details
The latest update introduces a new campaign, UI and quality-of-life improvements, but it also adds elite enemies and a new gameplay feature: Pillars.
What Are Pillars?
Pillars are enigmatic structures that players can now find on their mining adventures. Specifically, up to two pillars can be found in each dig, with depth having no effect on the spawn rate.
By approaching and activating these pillars, players can get a useful buff that stays active throughout the rest of the run. There are a total of 7 types of pillars, but specific details have not been revealed as the developers want players to uncover the structures on their own and see what buffs they have in store.
Elite Enemies & New Campaign
Players will now be able to find new elite enemies in the depths. These new monsters are stronger variants of the standard ones, with elite versions of Deeper Depth monsters only spawning in Deeper Depths. The patch notes suggest that the buffs provided by the pillars will be significantly helpful in taking down these new foes.
The new campaign, titled as “Pillars and Elites” in the previous announcement, is now available in the Campaigns menu and features a couple of custom levels to progress through while taking down elite monsters. If you beat this campaign, you will be rewarded with a new Pillar-themed holo set.
Improvements
As for the changes and improvements made in this update, some of them include improving player movement and hitboxes, adding tips to loading screens, extending player rank rewards to 200, and much more. If you play on a controller, there’s good news: controller performance has also been improved, meaning that you now should be able to do everything UI-related without needing to use the mouse.
