After starting off the $MEGA token sale in the form of OTC deals last month, the MegaWorld team is now back with some important updates for the token ahead of the Q2 public launch of MegaWorld Express, a courier simulator MMO currently in closed alpha.

What’s Changing?

According to the latest Discord announcement and Twitter/X thread, the developers revealed during the weekend that they are increasing tax on the token until the end of the month, meaning that the number of tokens needed Resources collection in Production, Industrial, and Energy buildings is now higher than before for a limited time. The surplus is set to go into the Treasury and is planned to be distributed through liquidity incentive programs alongside staking.

Another significant change is the introduction of a lock-up period for using the token to unlock Perks in Districts, meaning that after you activate a Perk, a minimum of 15 days will need to pass in order for $MEGA to be deposited in the desired District. There are no additional steps to take if you want to continue using activated Perks, as the Discord post states that tokens will automatically get locked up.

Last but not least, because of the liquidity issues experienced during closed alpha while waiting for CEX listings, the team has decided to open up the $MEGA Redemption Program, through which players can make buyback OTC deals starting on March 15th, giving holders the option to sell their collected tokens.

When Is the 4th OTC Batch?

It’s been revealed that the 4th OTC batch is scheduled to begin on March 15th, making 1 million $MEGA tokens available for purchase in the form of over-the-counter deals. Anyone willing to participate in this batch will have to place a minimum order of 10k $MEGA tokens.

After this batch remains the 5th batch, also set to feature 1 million tokens up for grabs. The date for that final sale does not seem to be available at the time of writing.
