According to the announcement, this release marks a “critical step towards our global launch.” The goal of this test period to find out what new players think of the game’s core gameplay loop while testing the game’s performance through key metrics that include Game Balance, Retention, and Monetization.
By playing this regional test version, players can expect a Web2 experience with in-app purchases. There are also endless events, full story dungeons, and new Web2 Guardians to play with. No Web3 integration is included in this version, and there is no info on when this test phase will end for the time being.
“We understand and feel the excitement and anticipation of our GOG community eagerly waiting to explore Elderym. It hasn’t gone unnoticed, and we're truly grateful for your enthusiasm and the level of love and attention we’re getting at this stage. Launching first in Canada is a vital step for us to fine-tune and perfect the gaming experience. We want to ensure that when Guild of Guardians is ready for its global debut, it exceeds your expectations in every way.”
When Is the Global Launch?
The global launch is scheduled to take place sometime in Q2 this year, which is when there will be more features for players to enjoy, with Web3 integrations also set to be included on Immutable zkEVM, which is where the game is migrating to in the first quarter of this year. Owners of GOG NFTs however can look forward to another Web3 milestone playtest event, as the FAQ section of the latest announcement reveals that the studio is planning on hosting another event through which players will be able to use NFTs in the game ahead of its global release.
