Ginger Joy Games, a Web3 mobile gaming studio spinoff from Matchingham Games, has announced that they have managed to successfully secure a substantial $1.26 million in a pre-seed funding round.
Funding Info
The funding represents a significant milestone in the company’s goal of “reshaping the landscape of mobile gaming,” with the new finances from the successfully closed round said to bring the team closer to their vision of developing high-quality Web3-powered mobile games. Details on the angel investors that participated in this round has not been revealed.
In the announcement, the studio reveals that their mission is to one of the first gaming companies to develop “natively mobile, interconnected games for Web3,” instead of porting browser games over to mobile.
The Chief Executive Officer of Ginger Joy, Ibrahim Over, said the following in the official post:
“The closure of our $1.26-million pre-seed round marks a thrilling milestone in our journey. I’m truly grateful for the unwavering support we’ve received, especially given the challenges in the blockchain industry. With the backing of excellent investors, we’ve overcome hurdles and become stronger. Also, I would like to send my heartfelt gratitude to Wisemaple for its invaluable support as financial advisor, and to Freya Law for her guidance as legal counsel throughout the process.”
On their way to creating a native mobile gaming ecosystem for a global audience, the team will look to utilize blockchain tech in their user acquisition strategies so that they can market for specific players depending on their in-game credentials, according to the announcement. There are also plans to use Web3 for monetizing user-generated content, allowing players to create their own in-game content and earn a share of the revenue from sales of their user-made assets.
Next to blockchain, AI is also planned to be integrated into their ecosystem, adding in features such as AI-generated racetracks and even game modes that are said to be made based on past player behavior, reducing development costs while personalizing the overall experience.
