Duckland Games and Vermillion Studios have announced a strategic tokenomics update to $FP, the core utility token of the Beam-powered play to earn party game, Forgotten Playland.

What’s New in Forgotten Playland’s Strategic Tokenomics Update?

The strategic tokenomics update includes 2 key changes that are said to strengthen the foundation of Forgotten Playland’s token to be further prepared for upcoming monetization features and blockchain integrations coming soon to the free to play title.

The 2 new changes included in this tokenomics update are the following:

  • Instant unlock of all leftover early seed contributor tokens on June 26, 12:00 UTC
  • 2 billion $FP token burn

In the announcement, the developers stated that one issue has become “increasingly clear,” prompting them to make the 2 adjustments:

“One issue has become increasingly clear: the extended vesting schedule for early seed contributors has created a persistent overhang on the token and misalignment with the growth strategy for the game. Hence, we needed a complete realignment of incentives and expectations designed to power the long-term growth of the Forgotten Playland ecosystem.”

Early seed contributors have 625 million $FP tokens still locked up under a vesting schedule that was initially set to gradually unlock all the way through November 21, 2025. Instead of sticking to this original vesting schedule, the decision has been made to change it entirely by having all remaining tokens instantly unlock this month, on June 26, 12:00 UTC. The team believes that by clearing the entire seed allocation sooner rather than later, they will increase transparency and remove any uncertainty over investor token unlocks, thus removing “a source of friction in the token’s market dynamics” while enabling the team to “control the next steps” of their growing web3 game.

The other change involves burning 2 billion $FP tokens, which is a 20% burn of the token’s initial total supply. This will be done through a burn schedule that does not seem to have been publicly defined at the time of writing, so it’s not quite clear when tokens will be burned nor how long it will take to burn all 2 billion tokens. But, you can expect public tracking to be likely available this week, as the team wants to initiate the burn process on-chain and with “full transparency.” The team also states that this is a “structural decision” and not a PR move, as it was made after reviewing the token’s role in the game itself, which made them realize that the full initial token allocation is not needed to power the in-game economy. They believe that their reserve, which makes up 30% of the total supply, contains enough tokens to complement the scalability of the game’s design. Instead of over-allocating supply, the team has chosen to tighten it instead in order to increase scarcity and show their long-term commitment in enabling a healthy token economy.

Overall, by making this tokenomics update in the same month as the upcoming blockchain update, the goal is to create a “proactive reset” of the token, with the intention to “accelerate the value” that the game and its economy brings to holders and the web3 gaming community.

What Does the Upcoming Blockchain Update Bring to Forgotten Playland?

The blockchain update is coming on June 19 to Forgotten Playland, bringing important monetization features and web3 integrations in partnership with Beam.

By integrating blockchain features, the game is entering its “Web3 monetization phase” in which the $FP token will play a crucial role. You can look forward to seeing web3 monetization systems such as on-chain rewards and token sinks officially going live alongside community-driven features that include quests, competitive leaderboards, and new player incentives. All of this will provide further utility to the token as the developers continue to make content drops by delivering regular updates and adding new activities to further expand core game modes and offer an even better blockchain gaming experience.

User acquisition campaigns with various partners are said to continue, and when the update launches on June 19, the plan will then be to launch a marketing campaign for the German-speaking market. Speaking of the German-speaking market, you can visit the game’s team over at GamesCom in Cologne in August later this year. They will also be present at the Tokyo Games show later on in September of this same year.

Forgotten Playland launched on the Epic Games Store on March 27, 2025, and you can jump in right now for free on Windows PC and enjoy playing fun party games as you hang out with other players in the Social Hub while customizing your cute PlushKyn character.
