Animoca Brands has announced that their subsidiary, SPORTPASS, a gaming platform focused on sports fans engagement, is collaborating with Euroleague Basketball in order to help the latter in successfully implementing their gamification strategy consisting of next-gen gaming experiences.

Collaboration Details

Thanks to this partnership, SPORTPASS will work on creating a Euroleague-themed gaming platform that is said to be aimed at the Gen Z fanbase. The platform will be focused on combining the excitement and “culture of sports in a digital offering” with a variety of gaming experiences, in-game collectibles, rewards, and more, according to the official announcement.

The Marketing and Communication Senior Director at Euroleague Basketball, Alex Ferrer Kristjansson, said the following in the press release:

The digital ecosystem is key to expanding the EuroLeague brand and offer new ways for young fans to interact with the league. This collaboration marks an important step in growing our portfolio of gaming opportunities for fans to engage with the EuroLeague in different, innovative ways.”

In the past couple of seasons, gamification has represented one of the most significant aspects of the league’s digital growth strategy. Last year they managed to successfully engage 4.3 million fans, marking a triple-digit year-on-year increase on the fantasy games portfolio. Through this collaboration, the league hopes to further bolster its portfolio and deliver quality experiences that lead to continued growth and fan engagement.
