Free-to-play horse racing game Derby Stars has been updated to version 0.10, marking the launch of Championships and the Auto Training System.

Championships

Championships are tournaments that players can compete in by registering during the first 5 days of a PvP Season. Registration comes with certain requirements, such as getting at least 40 Victory Points (VP) in PvP matches. Other criteria may get added in the future. Since the horse’s stats and Cores are recorded at the start of registration, players should make sure to improve the horse’s abilities and make any other tactical changes before registering.

After registration comes the qualifying phase during which your horse is randomly matched with other horses for 5 rounds. These rounds award Championship Points (CP) depending on how well your horse does. The top 128 horses that have the highest amount of CP progress to the finals, where the top 50% from every match move to the next round. Once there are 15 or fewer horses, the final match will take place to complete the rankings and crown the winner of the tournament.

While the best rewards go to the top 3, simply participating in the Championship is enough to get you a share of the competition’s prize pool.

The first Championship is scheduled to begin on February 7th together with the start of Season 25.

Auto Training System

The new training system is designed to be a time-saving alternative to the existing training process. Using it requires 2 energy and a Auto Training Ticket. Players will be able to claim Tickets in a permanent event that takes place twice a day at certain times. You can also get more Tickets by buying new Webshop packages, while retiring horses gives you a chance of gaining more through the Growth Random Box.

Using this new system lets you instantly complete training but gives slightly lower rewards than the standard training process. There’s also no guarantee as to whether you will receive cores or not.

Last month, the studio published a 2024 roadmap for Derby Stars, in which it was revealed that these new features would make their way in this update. The next update looks set to introduce an overhaul to rewards while increasing max leveling to 70.
