Degen Labs, the studio developing NFT card game Degen Wars has unveiled their official, public roadmap featuring milestones that they are setting to achieve throughout 2024, while sharing what’s in store for next year.

Public Testnet

For this month, the announcement reveals that the team will look to launch a public testnet of their Web3 title on Blast. Through this playtest, you will get to see what they’ve been working on the past 2 years, so you can expect to experience a fully functional on-chain game “with simple, yet strategic and addictive gameplay.”

Airdrop & Token Launch

In June, the plan is to kick off a multi-phase airdrop campaign consisting of testnet activity rewards while putting a focus on “educational, community outreach.” The community-focused approach is said to be made together in partnership with token launch protocol ZAP, who will also help with token distribution and strategic launch.

Once the game’s official token launches at some point potentially during June, holders can look forward to day 1 utility that will include staking options and the ability to make in-game purchases.

Q3 & Q4

The mainnet version of the game looks set to go live at some point in Q3 on Arbitrum, the same quarter in which an NFT mint is planned alongside the introduction of a peer-to-peer renting market.

A public game infrastructure launch is planned for Q4, which seems set to unlock access to proprietary game infrastructure by being an NFT holder. NFT owners are also set to gain the ability to use a universal card minter that will allow the minting of playable cards based on their NFTs.

Q1 2025 Plans

A variety of features are planned to make their way next year. According to the roadmap, players can look forward to gasless “meta” transactions, an in-game prediction market, deck combination boosts, and the ability to trade cards.
