One of the oldest blockchain-based metaverses around, Decentraland, has officially partnered with cross-chain liquidity router Squid and interoperability protocol Axelar Network in order to improve their marketplace by enabling multi-chain purchasing with the integration of the new partner’s technology.
Partnership Details
Thanks to this new partnership, Decentraland’s NFT marketplace is no longer limited to just one chain, as with the integration Squid and Axelar’s tech, users can now make cross-chain purchases, making it possible to buy any NFT using any asset from your wallet, no matter what supported chain you’re on. By enabling multi-chain swaps, the marketplace is much more accessible and interoperable than ever before. With this integration, you no longer need to have $MANA in your wallet to make a purchase. That doesn’t mean that this metaverse’s core token is no longer used; instead, what Squid does with your cross-chain swaps is they route your orders in the background, converting your asset into $MANA in order to receive your NFT. This lets you skip buying $MANA yourself as Squid does it for you, saving time and making for a seamless experience.
Currently, Polygon and Ethereum are the supported chains, so if you have tokens other than $MANA on those chains, you can now use them to purchase NFTs on the official marketplace.
Squid Scarf
In celebration of this new partnership and integration, Squid has released their own collectible on the marketplace: the Squid Scarf. It comes with a supply of 1000, with 939 in stock as of writing, priced at 1 $MANA per NFT.
